How have you vented your 4R when camping and sleeping in the 4R?

Many small campers have a Max Air type roof vent. I do not want to add one of those to my roof. Has anyone come up with a solution for possibly adding a fan that inserted with the rear window and the top of the window frame?

 

No, but it sounds like you are about to.

 

I saw a forum post where a member created a dual fan setup in his moon roof. It looked like a good solution.

I do not have a moon roof so I found a big quiet 12V PC computer fan at my local electronics store, attached a 12V plug, rigged up some paracord to it to hang it from the rear view mirror. With screens in some windows or the rear hatch, and a constant 12V outlet with a switch, it provides good air flow. You could even hang it near a window to blow air out.

 

I used these for ventilation, and they worked well. But, they allowed rain to drip through the top of the door. No fan here. Subbed for ideas.

 

Roll the back window down 6 inches, crack front windows a half inch or so

Spoiler keeps rain out of back and small opening in front means hardly any gets in up there

Not rocket surgery

Bugs will still eat y'ass though

Maybe these are what you’re looking for? It looks like they make them for the side and rear window. You can also get them w/ mesh, so that of course would help with the bugs.

I made mine bug proof with some screen for doors from the hardware store. Cut it to size for the back window and used magnets to keep it on. Can do the same for other 4 windows. Unless its really warm the back rolled down and the other windows slightly cracked has worked well for me

 

Here’s another idea. I bought these rear window sun shades. They’re essentially soft screen socks that slip over the rear doors. You can operate your windows to adjust how much air you want. They may not last very long especially if you drive at highway speeds with them installed, as some people do. But they’re under $20 for a pair.

This looks like a good solution for the back window. Then on the inside I could run a fan or two to pull air through at night. Thank you for that suggestion. Thank you to all for all the other suggestions as well. I have also thought of cutting some 1/4" poly to fit a 5" opening above the rear window and then mounting a couple of 4" fans to it.
