Hey guys I recently purchased a 1990 4Runner v6 4x4 Manuel I don’t believe it’s the sr5.. first thing I did was rebuilt the engine and had them change all the hoses add new clutch new radiator starters etc! My next thing to make it more reliable is changing the shocks and suspension.. what’s a good height and tire for the 4Runner thank you guys!

Clean engine! Check out a 2-2.5” lift with 33/10.50 tires. That combo looks awesome without getting crazy.

Crank the torsion bars, get new coil springs for the rear and add 1.25” spacers on the coils and you can easily clear 33x10.5 tires without rubbing. The new coils and spacers will raise the ass end about 4” if it’s sagging. Throw some Kyb mono max shocks on there, they even have extended shocks for lifts, you’ll only need the 1-2” extended shocks. Then crank the torsion bars until the front is leveled out. What you can do is take the front and rear diffs out of a junker with an auto with 4.88 gearing. That would be a sweet set up on a manual with 33’s. Don’t forget to get an alignment. Here’s a pic of my runner with that suspension set up.
