Hello guys. Just purchased my new 2020 SR5 4X4 last night and wanting to install the TRD skid plate. Will the plate work ok being I do not have the KDSS? Also will the 2019 plate work on the 2020? Thanks for the info guys and enjoy your rides !

TRD plate off the Pro? Should work just fine as the Pro isn’t optioned with KDSS

I want a skid plate with a cutout for oil filter and oil drain on the motor. I found a Toyota part for the Tacoma that has this
nowhere does it say if it will or will not fit on a 4runner.
Toyota PTR60-35190 TRD Pro Front Skid Plate.

I can pretty much tell by looking at the bolt pattern they don't look compatible

That is a shame, Toyota obviously determined that it was a good idea to put oil filter and oil drain access on the TRD skid plate for the Tacoma. Why is that not a good idea on the 4runner?
I would rather have a OEM part than an aftermarket one.

Skid comes off pretty quick. I wouldn't worry over it

I have the TRD version and it is light enough to take on and off without much effort. I replaced the bolts with studs, so it makes it that much faster to remove and replace. Personally, the oil filter access hole is overblown- much easier to not get oil everywhere with the entire skid out of the way.

I recommend after market skids with maintenance cutout over TRD Pro skids. I have first hand experience Toyota dealership messing up with the bolts. RCI skids was much better option for me were I myself remove the cut-out before I give it to service. After market skids like RCI also support A-arm skids. TRD Pro skids won't support most A-arm skids as far as I've seen. Only A-arm skid I've seen that support TRD Pro skid is "runnin4tacos" one.

I’ve thought about putting one on my SR5 though not sure if there’s a real benefit if I don’t do off-roading?

This is the one I have on my 21. I have a 3 inch leveling kit with the 1 inch differential drop. This is a poorly designed skid plate. I change oil at 5000 miles. In just over a year I have had to change oil 4 times. No access panel to get at the drain plug. They have to pull the skid plate every time they change it.
I have the CBI front skid on order. Can't wait to get it installed. Another couple weeks! I have had a lot of CBI products on my last few tacomas and several items on my current 4runner. Very well engineered, super great customer service. Hope that helps!

Typically you can get a used one cheaper than the knock off one. Just get the RCI skids imo

I have it on my 2020 4R, I always have to remove it when doing oil change. It's quite easy and you get used to doing it ...
