I just installed a new set of new tires on my '97 MT 4wd SR5.
    Falken Wildpeak AT.
The tires shop balanced it out and on the 1st try, it was vibrating at 50-70mph.
Called them and rebalanced the tires, now its only vibrating at 62mph - 72mph.
Is it supposedly like that ? The shop manager told me, because of the AT characteristic of the tires, the vibration comes.
He suggested for me to use the balancing beads/bags but not 100% sure if the vibration will go.
What should I do ? I paid for the installation of the new tires including the balancing.

Google “falken wildpeak balancing issues”. If I were you I’d return them and get something else, my bfgoodrich ko2’s and toyo at3’s have zero vibrations.

Bigger A/T LT Tires, Slight Lift, Sliders, Rack, Lights, etc.
It is a common issue unfortunately. Many times it's due to shop incompetence. Other times because not the proper equipment is used. Also these tires unfortunately seem to have some quality control issues.. so lots of guys (myself included) have been through multiple sets trying to get a good batch. I had a few tires that were warrantied due to being "out of round." I'm currently working on my second set which still doesn't seem to want to balance. Good luck. Yes, A/T tires are harder to balance, but with effort it can get done apparently. I've heard of balancing issues on K02's as well, but at this point it seems that the Wildpeaks are notorious for balancing issues. Happily, Falken seems willing to replace tires until they're right. Problem with that is multiple chances to damage wheels, multiple install costs, etc.

They should have no issues as many people from this forum also using them. But I will check and do some research. My Mastercraft AXT is totally fine with highway speed.

The shop is pretty well reputated shop at my neighbourhood. Thank you for the information. I will call them and ask if Falken is willing to replace it through them.
If not, should I use the bags or beads as they suggested?

I am not sure if these tires will be balance at 80-90mph.

I was saying to google that because you’ll find posts and posts and posts with the same issue as you.

If they say they can not get them right, then they should be willing to swap them out. I would not use the bags or beads, thats the lazy mans out.

Yes, I googled it and found multiple issues similar like this one.
Well, I hope they will find a solution to it.

I asked them to contact Falken about this, yes I would not use that beads/bags either.
Hopefully they are willing to swap it out or else I might have to live with it
    :(

There is no reason you should have to live with it, you purchased the the tires from them, it is their responsibility to make it right.

Yes, I will try again this weekend at the speed of 65-75mph and If the vibration is still there, I will ask them to swap it or rebalance it or whatever they can do until it become a proper balanced tire.

Well fudge. I was going to go Wildpeaks but looks like Toyo is going to get my business.

When I was deciding on my new tires, I was torn between the Wildpeaks and the Toyo AT3. After I read about all of the issues that some people have with Balancing the Falkens, I went with the Toyos and I could not be happier. My local DT matched the Walmart price with no issues.

    :hattip:

I did not do enough research before changing the tires, hopefully Falken or the Tire shop would swap it.
