    Hey all,

I have first gen Morimoto XB headlights on my 5th gen and am really disappointed with the output. I am having to drive with my Diode Dynamic SS3 fogs on to help brighten up the road at night, which in Oregon is illegal. Any suggestions on a better output light? Retro fit factory housing with something or Alpharex? I had Xenon Depot LED’s in the factory housing with LED in the fogs before “upgrading” and still had to use the fogs. Just looking for input and advice. Thanks in advance.

Have you contacted Morimoto's about getting the Gen 2's?

    H9 upgrade

Don't waste time with drop in LED's.

Check out my review of the 2021 stock led headlights. https://www.4runners.com/threads/2021-stock-limited-led-headlights-and-fog-review.16620/

he most efficient way is the standard H9 bulb for $9.

if you absolutely want to spend $1000+ then I would say do not get the morimotos. They have known reliability issues. Instead just wait until the stock 4Runner LEDs headlight assemblies are available either from the dealer or a junkyard. I would bet they will be significantly cheaper than the morimotos either way.

I followed the advice of others and I replaced the stock halogen bulbs with the H9s a few months ago and am happy with the results... no need to spend major $ for LED replacement lights. Use that extra cash for more useful/functional accessories. The H9 output is night-and-day compared with the stock bulb.

I had the H9 prior to buying the Morimoto... Output was better than stock for sure but still wasn’t bright enough for me. Maybe I’m going blind lol... I have had the Morimoto for about 4 months... Thanks for all the feedback

I had led plug in with my stock setup and fogs. Prior to that I tried the h9 upgrade. To me the led plug in was brighter then h9.

recently got the alpha Rex nova and the light output is better then h9 and led plug in. Now I don’t drive with my fogs anymore.

    pricey buy worth it :)
