I am considering adding a Southern Style Off-Road slimline bumper and winch to my 2020 TRD Off-Road with KDSS. Since the bumper is not a full bumper, is it necessary to replace the stock springs with beefier springs, or will the stock springs handle the additional weight with no problem?

Also, if the springs should be replaced, should the shocks be upgraded as well?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

I just ordered SSO slimline hybrid bumper. 20% off now. Leadtime is 10-12weeks. I also will order X20 10k winch. I was wondering same thing. But I decided to wait until installed and measure how much it will get lower....then decision. Will put thread on this matter.

I received the following response directly from SSO.

If you're wanting to maintain the factory look/stance with our slimline and winch, my recommendation would be to get 1/4" lift shims to take up the sag from the weight added on the front end. Headstrong Offroad manufactures the different spacers for you 4Runner.

Any and most spring/shock combo we would recommend getting will yield you about 1.5"-2.5" of lift but will still ride very well. Let me know if you'd like a quote on a suspension system to suit what you're wanting to do with you 4Runner like camping and mild trails to rock crawling or jumping.

    Cheers,
    Brandin

Based on their response, I will likely go with the shims. I don't want to spend the money on a full suspension package, as I am not an off-roader that takes to areas needing a full suspension lift. For me, the winch is more about getting unstuck or moving a fallen tree out of the way.
