I wonder if you aimed them down just a bit you’d get even more light to the sides closer to the truck.

 

Thank you for the pictures. Does the color look yellow in person? I see they sort of look a bit green in the pictures.

Could you also post one more picture looking at the foglights on the vehicle while the light are on?

 

Yes. I have not adjusted them yet. There are instructions posted online for how to do it.

There’s not a whole lot of curvature. But the lamin-x is very flexible and can stretch. You basically place it on the lens and smooth it out working from the center to the edges across the surface working out any bubbles. There are some installation videos on their site. I don’t have a pic of them lighted, head on. But they are quite yellow and noticeable. Here’s a photo of an unlighted one close up.

 

Selective yellow is good for fogs. I don’t think amber is street legal for fogs. (No judgement here, if that’s what you want go for it). But I think the yellow would suit you better?

 

I used some vinyl application spray which made it a breeze to apply and center. Then used a plastic applicator tool to push the liquid out the sides and blow dryer on low heat to finish it up.

 

You shouldn’t care about color matching your fog lights to your turn signal lights (for the benefit of oncoming drivers so they think your lights are pretty??).

You really should get the selective yellow Lamin-x covers for the fogs for them to be effective for *your* vision. Amber is not yellow.

The intent of selective yellow is to improve vision by removing short, blue to violet wavelengths from the projected light. These wavelengths are difficult for the human visual system to process properly, and they cause perceived dazzle and glare effects in rain, fog, dust, and snow.

I used mine in fog last night and they do help. I installed mine dry like in the Lamin-x demo video. The fogs light lenses are small and it’s pretty easy.

 

I’m thinking of trying these. If they don’t work for me are they easily removed? Do they leave residue?

 

Maybe there’s some residue upon removal after long term use and heating in the sun. But nothing you can’t remove with the proper solvents (like goo-gone).

From the Lamin-x FAQs:

“Lamin-x Protective Film can easily be removed without damaging the light. Upon initial application, the film can be peeled up and reapplied numerous times if not installed correctly. The film and its adhesive are designed for this! Once the film has settled (24-48 hours), the product is no longer considered reusable. To remove a long-term installation, warm the film and peel it off slowly. If there is any adhesive left on the lens, simply roll it into a ball using your finger or thumb. Use an adhesive remover, or a similar product that is safe for automotive finishes, to remove any left-over residue.”

Whatever you do, do NOT use acetone as the solvent. Might be obvious to most, but I can't tell you how many times I've come into work after guys have melted every plastic surface in the shop.

 

I ordered the Yellow Color and will be installing them tomorrow over the factory White LED Fog Lights. Will post a photo.

Selective Yellow is what the French use on their headlights.
