Hey guys I have a 2016 limited 4Runner that I just recently purchased. I work at a dealership and they mechanic told me that I could not lift the 4Runner without replacing the shocks all around. Is this true??? I haven’t seen or read anything about this problem. It’ll cost me an extra $1600 just to have that done. Am I being misinformed or what because I was about to order all of my accessories and this would be heart breaking. Thank you guys

I’m not sure about the limited since you have XREAS. You might have to replace all the shocks, but if not you could just do spacers.

What all are you ordering? If you are buying new shocks you should be okay. If you are trying to keep the factory XREAS then you may run into issues.

Here’s a good way to live: whatever a dealer says. Believe the opposite.

Believe you need to lose the XREAS so he would be right.

I’m ordering a 3 inch suspension lift. Another up fit shop said I would have to replace shocks all around. Know of any after markets that are great for the price??

What 3 inch lift are you installing that does not include shocks?

I think the dealer is saying that you can’t add spacers without removing xreas. This is false. Many limiteds w/xreas have installed spacers and used same xreas.

It may be more so advisement rather than need; and I’m assuming this is a spacer lift you’re after...

Spacers will increase your potential suspension travel, but not your shock travel. If you’re just staying on pavement, where you’re not ever really using your suspension travel, you should be just fine... if you off-road at all, then you run more of a risk of overextended or over compressing your shocks; which can cause a catastrophic shock failure.

Not 100% sure what you have now, what lift you’re looking at, or how you plan to use you’re 4Runner... but I would also strongly suggest considering new shocks/coilovers over spacers.

Information on what you are planning to order is essential if you want a real answer.

What are you attempting to say?

I feel like you need to sit down, gather your thoughts and figure out what your trying to say. Nobody here can give you a good answer if you nobody here knows what your trying to do/ask/figure out.

EBT = Electronic Benefits Transfer = food stamps. He doesn’t want a poverty lift because the dynamic suspension won’t allow it... whatever that means.

    All of them.
When you find a 7/11 that sells a full suspension lift and can pay with ebt let me know. I’m willing to bet I get a big gulp for free with ever wheel and tire combo too.

Is this the ebt lift you’re talking about? Im pretty sure you don’t need that.
