Silver. People say white is easier to clean & stay clean; but ask a painter or detailer. It hides the waterstains & dirt.
When we got Xpel installed on ours I commented on a white hellcat. He broke out a very bright light & said "you think this is clean?" Then proceeded to show me all the unseeable grime left.
Then again we chose black so there is that... LMAO

I’d get the white just so I could have the tan interior, but my old silver one looked sharp and was so easy to keep clean

Silver ! ... white is ok too but the paint is single stage and will oxidize faster.

    white-most popular, easy resell
silver-metallic paint, hide scratch better than white
I choose silver because the very ugly front valance(bumper) is similar colour on OR, and I can't factory order it black. SR5 maybe white easier.

Silver. My FJ was white and it scratched so very easily!

White is literally the only color of 4Runner I would flat out not own. Toyota can’t seem to make paint to stick.

I'd pick none of the above. But if it HAD to be only white or silver, I'd reluctantly go with white. Every car has a certain color or colors that go best, based on its lines and proportions. Impressions regarding things like the visual balance between the body and the wheels make a big difference. I've recently had cars that looked best in white (my WRX, which in dark colors looked bloated) and cars that looked hideous in white (my GTI, which looked totally like a cheap ass econo car in white).

In the case of the 4Runner, IMO black is the best color on the SR5 and TRDs, while grey works well on all the models but is a clear best choice on the Limited. On that model, the egregious amount of chrome looks even more egregious when it jumps out in contrast with either black or white.

On the SR5, white works particularly well on black wheels. Silver works pretty well on the stock wheels, but silver has a tendency to impart an "econo car" look, especially as it fades and oxidizes with age. That said, Toyota is known for having poor paint quality generally, with particular problems for some of their white paints. Thus my "none of the above" preference.

But again, in terms of overall visual appeal, I think white works better than silver on the SR5, especially given the relative ease with which one can give it the popular "storm trooper" look with the addition of black wheels and darker window tint.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. You definitely have me thinking and after much of the feedback. In the end I think it’s going to end up being the one that speaks to me at the dealer.

With that in mind, the 2021 black is a metallic black with flakes in the paint. It looks great in the daylight and has a bit of a dark blue tint at night under street lights. I did not realize that when I ordered it as I was originally looking for a MGM, but was pleasantly surprised.

That's the strategy that's most likely to lead to the happiest result. Just might want to think about how either would look with any mods you plan to do. e.g. as mentioned a lot of people love the white with black wheels and dark window tint. Many also black out the badges etc.

If you have to park in a sunny spot all the time, white is a better choice. Silver definitely hides scratches and/or dirt better than any other color. That said, I picked MGM. :)

The white looks nice when new .........but it looks dirty if you dont wash it ,plus the single stage paint is awful.......(heard it chips and scratches easily.)
Silver is classic....always looks clean even when dirty, (it hides scratches ).

lighter color is easy to clean, and hides dirt more than dark like black

I actually just bought a white 2020 and after a month I experienced symptoms of color regret so I'm switching to a 2021 magnetic gray. I know there are so many positives of white - they look awesome with the black accents, white cars are statistically safer etc. but I love camping and would prefer to blend in more with nature. I'm also 5'12" and don't need the extra attention

I wanted mag gray from the beginning but couldn't find one in stock and let the forums and other people convince me white was the best choice. So my best advice is to go with what you think suits you best.

OP, let us know what you decide! And send pics!

PS, I think folks have given some good reasons to avoid white. While the overall visual impression can be great, especially with black wheels etc., it seems to be one of the lower quality paints from a manufacturer known to already have poor-ish paint. So that could be an important factor to consider. If it was me and I wanted white, I'd think about springing for something like the 3M paint coating.

The LED headlights on the 2021 are pretty amazing! However I have only driven it on dark roads not off-road but so far so good!

I think that is a good choice; there was another thread on here about the pitting and recalls on white paint; maybe Toyota got that worked out for 2021. I have always been a fan of silver. Although I am like the Barcelona Red also particularly on the Venture
