Weird beeping sound from my 4Runner

Hey everyone - I hope this is the correct page to post this question. I am trying to track down the source of the mysterious sound coming from my 4Runner. Over the past couple of days, when I hit a bump, I get a fast high pitched beep sound, followed by a lower level, long beep (5-10 sec). None of the icons on the dashboard are on, so I am trying to figure this out based on the sounds. Earlier today, when I hit a bump, all of the above happened, but also the hazard lights came on & the doors unlocked. That time a light did pop up on the dashboard, but for just a second. It might've been the low tire pressure light - it was on & off too quickly to get a good look.

Has this happened to any other 5th Gen 4Runners? I've tried calling a few places, but they don't know what I'm talking about. Thank you in advance if you know what the issue is!!!

Edit on 10/20- reading what 'Think' wrote last night about the rear latch being open & registering as an open door. As crazy as that sounded at the time, I believe that could be the issue. When it happened today, it was when I accelerated quickly & the doors open icon popped up on the dash. Tomorrow will prove if that was the issue - I appreciate everyone chiming in!

 

Going to guess traction control.

You supposed to slow down over speed bumps not gas it. LOL. But doors shouldn't unlock.

 

Hi, thanks for your reply. I was wondering if it was my traction control - it's done this in the winter when I hit an icy spot. The door unlocking was very weird, very 'Christine'-ish, ha ha.

 

Could be that the rear hatch isn't closed all the way going over bumps jolts it enough to register as an open door

 

Just out of curiosity where is your key fob when you hit the bumps?

 

That was going to be my question, too. Mine is dangling off my keychain and sometimes gets between my knee and the bottom of the dash. I wonder if there's an extra in the glove box or center console that has stuff resting on it that pushes buttons when you go over a bump. The long beep is usually the sound the car makes when you arm it with the door open. Fast beep, flash, and an unlock is the same as pushing that unlock button. Sounds like there's a remote that's getting triggered.
