I was off roading an had a minor encounter with a metal pole. The car is fine but it deployed both airbags which really sucks cause it cracked my windshield too. I bought replacement bags and needed to know if all I needed to do was replace the old ones. Needed to know if the rest of the system is fine too. Are the sensors a one time use?

That's a good question. I don't know the answer but I'm sure someone will chime in soon. I will be following post.

Hey figure I'd call Toyota to answer my own question, other then the airbags being replaced there is a yellow sensor behind the grill that needs to be replaced as well. Thank you guys for your help

All I know is that they can be tricky to install, and could deploy accidentally. I’d chase down someone who has done it and ask them how it’s done. Also, they’re expensive, so avoiding deployment just goes without saying in terms of cost, but personal safety is a big factor too.

My airbags deployed in 1997 limited 4wd . Just curious does anyone know how much it cost to fix or if I can buy the replacements myself?

Pretty tricky, and expensive. Good luck.

    Where can you get them?

I see prices on an on-line junkyard search for 98 4Runner Airbags for $30-$350.

The last thing you’d want is for one these suckers to deploy in an untimely manner.
