I put black emblem overlays on my white T4R OD before I realized I was going to switch it out for a gray one... The overlays fit like a glove and look super clean. I'd prefer to save some $ and remove them so I can reinstall them on the new T4R but I'm worried about damaging the original badges during the removal process.

Has anyone removed overlays before? Lots of videos/tips on installation or full badge removal but can't find any for just the overlay removal.

Backup option: consider it a lost cause and just plasti-dip the new emblems.

for 30 bucks I would leave them and buy new...but if I were to remove them use a heat gun gently... as it warms use a plastic razor blade, or carefully with a thin tip metal tool and try to pick it away

I personally would suggest a hair dryer and patience. Heat gun gets hot and a lot of people get the paint too hot.

I lack patience so I rip it off and buy new.

I wish they were only $30... I bought higher quality ones from R4T. Still less than OEM, but not $30. I guess I'm most worried about trying to heat them up and it causing the original emblem to start loosening.

Think you paid for the name not the quality but good luck.

    Maybe a little quality.

I appreciate your concern, but I did a wildly unhealthy amount of research before buying them, I'm confident they were worth it.

Interested in how much research can be done on an overlay to make it unhealthy.

Now researching which suspension to go with. That is eye poke material.

You'd be surprised, lol. Less unhealthy, more so a time suck.

Oh ya, suspension options are endless. Emblem covers are child's play, I'll work my way up to suspension one day...

Dental floss or I use string for emblems.
OP asked for overlays, so I assumed was the plastic letters that slip over the existing. Would be a different method to removing each type

Fun update...I got most of them off but I couldn't get all of them off. A couple of them are really stuck on good. Going to the dealership tomorrow for the trade-in so I'm going to put them all back on in the AM so at least it all looks the same . It was a fun try.

So my sales rep told me a Lunar Rock is coming with blacked out emblem package, I’m guessing I’m SOL about removing the overlays. I was gonna ask the dealer if it was possible for them to remove the overlays.
