Thinking of 285/75/17

Thinking about getting a new set of tires and switching to a different size. Currently have 295/70/17, and wanting to get 285/75. They’ll be a bit taller, but not as wide. Has anyone here made the switch from either one to the other? Preference?

 

Probably be similiar MPG’s. If you haven’t done a pinch weld beating you’ll probably need too.

 

Yeah I’ve been lucky enough to get away with not needing it, so I’ll have to bring out the hammer!

 

I am looking at the same size but curious about fit etc. as well. Id be going up from a 275/70/17.

 

I don’t think there is a better looking wheel size for the 4Runner... It’s a big tire but not too big!

I recently installed a 2.5” OME suspension lift with Falken Wildpeak 85/75/17s on 17” Method Wheels with 1.25” spacers and it is an incredible setup that rubs like a big dog! I chopped the body mount so no issue there but I’m trying to figure out a solution for the rear part of the front fender. I need some help myself! Anyone?! Of note I’m going to get rid of the spacers... too much cowbell. A 3/4 inch spacer may just be the perfect size...

 

You have pictures of your setup? And for the front fender, you may have to do some cutting! Have you hammered in the pinch weld? That could be where you’re rubbing too. Mine sometimes rubs where the black cap meets the front fender by door.
