Hello everyone! I’m having a problem with my 94’ 4Runner and the ignition. Every time I turn my key to the on position or just full-on start the truck, the key gets stuck and does not move past the on position when you try and take the key out. The only way I’ve figured out so far on how to get the key out is to disconnect the negative cable on the battery, then the key comes right out as normal. Any ideas on how to get the key to come out of the ignition normally so I don’t have to disconnect the battery every time?? Thank you!!

    Hi:
Your 4Runner doesn't know that the shifter is in park.
The switch that the shifter is connected to is probably bad.
This may sound weird, but if you pull the CIG fuse in the panel down on the left kick panel, the key lock doesn't care anymore that the shifter is or not in park.
At least that is the way it worked on my 95 Runner, and nothing else seems to have been affected.
If you are a smoker, just use a zippo.
    Art.
