Rear Spacer Install Question

    Hello everyone, I recently was able to buy a .5 inch spacer for the rear of my 2005 4runner v8. I was wondering a couple things.

    First, I've heard that in regards to installing a rear lift, .5 inches is really 1 inch. Is this true? Its just something someone told me and I can't seem to find anything to really support it.

    Lastly, when installing the rear spacer, do I need to get an alignment for the back? I know all you do is take off the sway arm and the shock I believe, and the axel drops and you plop the spacer on the top of the spring and put it all back in. Is an alignment required?

    In the front, it's roughly double - so a .5" in the front will net about 1" lift at the wheels. In the rear, what you add is what you get. So a .5" spacer in the rear will net you roughly .5" of lift.

    You won't need an alignment for the back.

    You are correct about unbolting shocks and unbolting sway bar links...but it is also very helpful to unbolt one end of the track bar as well, this will give you way more droop to work with. Keep an eye on your brake line from the body to the axle, if it's getting really tight or limiting your droop, just unbolt the bracket where it attaches to the axle and that will give you the extra slack you need (most likely won't need to do this, especially if just adding .5" to stock length coils).
