So true. If anything happens in a serious accident it’s on you. It’s called complicit negligence. If the system is recalibrated and the dealer says it’s fine, it’s on him. Cheap insurance.

I’m running a 3” Ironman foam cell lift. TSS has been working fine, before and after.

If every 1/10” counted, then the system would be thrown into chaos every time you towed something, or had it loaded down with passengers, or hit a dip in the road.

I will not sit here and explain to you how entire system works. I get pay for doing that, I am here to answer to OP. Its your car do whatever you want. If you care do research, if you dont' its fine. Please read all I said above I don't want to repeat myself. Be safe and have fun with 4runner. Peace.

Seems like the obvious here is just to not rely on these systems after heavy mods. That said, I hope none of you rely on the systems, EVER! So what's the difference? If they aren't "acting up" after mods.. then just act like they aren't there and everything will be fine, no? And even if you unfortunately did get into an accident, where somehow this argument came into play.. how would the courts, lawyers, etc. ever be able to prove that you didn't recalibrate the system yourself?

Besides, I trust a mom and pop mechanic shop to recalibrate sensitive cameras and sensors about as much as I trust my legs to get me to the moon. They can't even seem to do an oil change without making a mistake. Maybe some of these shops are different. Definitely looks like the way of the future, but for now I would just not rely on the systems.. then again I'm not a fan of these systems at all and wish people would just learn to drive themselves. Yeah, right.

the links you posted are mostly business that only have to gain financially from doing all these adjustments. Do you want to tell me that if I go to my dealer to fix my windshield they don't have a machine to fix my camera? Only Audi and VW do? What about BMW? I smell snake-oil that a tire company makes such an investment, but the vehicle manufacturer just outsources it?
I cant believe that insurance companies are not onto this now as you say, when there are rarely more atrocious lawyers in the known universe to work with these matters. You do have to notify your insurance company of any modifications you do (read the fine print) and if this was such a life and death matter, I'm sure you'd hear about it, especially in the most litigious country on the planet. These systems are not exactly new, it is about 10 years now. You do sound like fear-mongering and your posts imply that we, the peasants, are too inferior to understand what you work with.
You know what the modders do with their Audi and VW and BMW (you haven't said anything about BMW)? They lower the cars, cut the springs, install wide low profile tires and so on. Never ever heard about any issues like that and we did have these cars in our household.

I have read the entire thread and judging by your tone and attitude, I have to take everything you post with a grain of salt. I believe there is a certain bit of truth in this thread, but not as bad as you make it sound.

This thread has been pretty helpful.

I hopped on here because recently on my 2020 4 Runner, the "Pre Collison System Malfunction take to dealer" warning came on. Trying to gain a better understanding of the issue.

A couple weeks ago I had the front windshield replaced, it had a crack in it. No collision or anything just needed replaced. The camera was recalibrate without issue at safelite auto glass.

This week we replaced the original factory Nitto Terra Grapplers (265/70R17) for a set of Nokian Outpost AT's (also 265/70R17). They also suggested an alignment which we did.

When I got the call the tire & alignment was completed they had asked if that warning light was on previously?

So I think this scenario between a new windshield, tires (although same size), and an alignment has created the perfect storm to take the ADAS out of calibration just enough to cause an issue.

The guys at Safelite & my Tire shop have all been extremely helpful and this is not a bash or negative on them. They double checked their work and been very professional. I have an appointment at the dealer in a couple weeks to get it checked out and hopefully resolved. And hopefully not alot more money ..

I figured I would share as this seems to be an issue thats not too uncommon. Maybe this process can help someone else make some informed decisions going forward with their 2020 or newer 4 Runners with TSS, ADAS, and hopefully not as big of PITA (see what I did there? )

I have the Eibach Stage 2 set at 2.5" in the front with their 1" coils in the rear sitting on LT285/70/17's and there are no issues.
