Similar-ish question: It's been a few years since I've had a 4Runner and I see them increasingly becoming more and more desired. Looking to get back into the market. I'm eyeing an 2001 4Runner owned and maintained by 1 owner in Florida at a Toyota dealer. Only 152k miles for $6000. Would this be a good investment decision? Looking to keep miles off and have it garaged.

From what I'm seeing, YES.... But do be careful the mileage wasn't rolled back. Check ebay for the higher end of values.

I don't think it's possible to roll back mileage on newer cars?...unless you swap in a low mileage speedo?

No it's actually easier just more expensive and I'm talking 2020 vehicles, a 2001 can be done with a cheap scan tool.

haha. Newer cars to me are anything built after 1995.

I am used to the old mechanical speedos and how you could set them to your mileage if you replaced them. I thought with the advent of the digital ones, they locked those out from being set/reset.

Seems they are going up in value. Is it the body style or reliability? D5F31DC0-73F7-49F7-BE33-24C88CEA95EA.jpg

It'll depend on the location, but that's a dealer looking to score big. I don't think he'll get that price.

Does it say 300k on dash? No waay that's worth 10k. I'm noticing the ones going for that are sub 150k original mileage and clean.... Me personally, I'm drawn to the 97 mainly because of reliability, usability and it's approaching classic coverage. Anything I have to put into it will be justified by the cheap insurance.

cars are like women......heh heh heh...always giving you a 'slight' problem...and giving you just enough...so you'll come on back for more..yup...have spent a small fortune, restoring my '87 Fiero GT. was it worth it ? maybe. You CAN'T put a price on Pleasure...but I love having a nice vintage ride..and the same goes for my '97 4Runner...I plan to sell my vehicles..at my Estate sale...
