After 25 years, I finally moved on from my first generation Isuzu Trooper..(1990) and for it's replacement , I purchased a very nice '97 4Runner Limited...with 250K on it. She's in very good shape...and I'll begin the process of updating and retro fitting her, as needed. The suspension has been upgraded, and larger all terrain tires has been added on..The body is in great shape, with minor wear on the finish...Interior very nice, with the usual wear and slight damage to the drivers seat..I'm looking forward to this forum...

Underneath is pretty clean..with little or no rust..I've replaced the valve cover gaskets, and also replaced the 02 sensors..I'm the 3rd owner..The majority of her time was spent in the Denver-Boulder area, before the owner relocated to Memphis..I recently bought it from them..This is the first automatic, I've ever owner in 51 years of vehicle ownership..as I'm used to manuals...ranging from 3 on a tree, to 5 speed..so it's taken a little time to adjust...(LOL) My '87 Fiero GT, is still 5 speed manual...I plan to use this forum, as a way to learn more about the 4 Runners, and interact with other owners..while upgrading as budget permits..

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin! Like you I'm a first time owner of a 4Runner, there is a ton of knowledge on this forum, the folks on here either know something about it, or will find out about it!

Thanks everyone...the 4Runner is a great vehicle...as I'm finding out...and it's not that much different than my old isuzu Trooper, only more refined, with much more torque and raw horsepower. Of course, we had our own forum for Isuzu's...and we/they/I are just as passionate ..Now that I've closed that chapter of Motoring, I'm looking forward to the next with my '97 Limited..Someone asked me the difference between the vehicles...It's like going from a B-29, to a B-52...if that makes any sense...

Hah Elvis central. Would you be mad if I thought Elvis in general was interesting, but Graceland not so much? It was neat to see but it was pretty touristy and pricey. Personally, I'd imagine Elvis wouldn't approve, as it appeared he was a fairly private person when he wasn't entertaining.

naw...not offended about Graceland...in fact, not a fan of it. too pricey, and cheesy..Elvis was great...for his era.Ws he the 'KING' of rock'nroll ? hard to say...at least to me, his early period..Sun to RCA Victor, was as good as it gets...I'm enjoying the forum, I'm sure it'll be a treasure trove of knowledge, etc

Thanks...I got lucky...as I stumbled upon this beauty...and the price was right...It really didn't have any real issues, and the previous owners, took care of it, and spent to keep it maintain ..I'll simply continue the process...as mileage on these beasts, really isn't an issue..as long as they are looked after...and maintained ..Rust ,in and around the frame, etc..can be problematic ..but coming from the world of first generation Isuzu Troopers, I'm familiar with the needs of vehicles like the 4Runner...

Did you buy that 4Runner from a person or a dealer btw? My cousin had one that looked like that and lived in Midtown.

where about in Canada ? When I lived in Michigan, went to Canada, many times...i.e. the bridge, or the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
from there...went to Toronto, or Montreal....

Yeah, it’s a small world, mousemeat! I used to live near Windsor, and as a border town we made lots of trips to Michigan and had friends in Ann Arbour etc. Now, we live in a small town just outside the Greater Toronto area in the heartland of Canada. Lots of good memories there. Lots of access to big water on the Great Lakes too!

Oldtoy, sounds like you settled into a great town...every once in an while, I would drive out to Regina, SK in my Fiero..and yup, I dearly miss the Great Lakes...Once this Covid stuff, finally plays out, and people can travel without restrictions, I'll be taking my 4Runner on a Michigan / Canada road trip....
