When I took my factory roof rack off, the anchors fell in. I’m not sure the name of them. The attached pictures show one set still poking out and one set that fell through. What is the course of action to retrieve or replace? Thank you for any help.

That's sucks. The same thing happened to someone in the other forum and he ended up pulling down the headliner to retrieve the part.... I'll see if i can find the thread

What’s the trick to avoid this happening (for future viewers of this thread)? I know I saw the trick in another thread but can’t find it now.

OP- you aren’t the first that had this happen. Seems to be a common problem.

Alternate between front and back bolts loosening 5 or 6 rotations at a time. Dude is gonna have to drop the headliner to get it back.

Google Roof Rack delete and you will get plenty of posts. I removed my Pro rack. You need to go slow and a turn at a time on each bolt.

I’ve seen some you tube videos on this, and it seemed doable. If I remember right, though, it was the back connectors. I’d definitely fix it to OEM. You’ll feel better about it afterwards, but I’m a little bit OCD about stuff like that. Good luck!

Happened to me. Spent too much time trying to fish it out. Finally pulled headliner down just enough to grab it. Not a big deal. Just have a second set of hands

If it’s not a tough job I’d pull the headliner. I was thinking the whole thing would have to come down. If you could pull just a corner to get them out, no big deal...

Yeah, I don’t mind jobs that I call “clean work”. You won’t even get your hands dirty fixing that problem.

    Feel free to ask
Had no idea this was that common of an occurrence. I’ll be taking extra precaution to avoid this when removing the factory rack.

Yeah you wanna be very careful and read some of the first hand accounts to know how to avoid it. It’s not catastrophic by any means. But it kinda sucks dropping a headliner on a new truck.
