$10k to spend...which 4Runner to buy?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for advice on buying a used 4Runner. I've got about $10,000 to spend. From looking at a few things on line 3rd generation seems recommended. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I live up north, seems like that is my biggest concern?

 

Give me ten grand and I will give you the best 4Runner ever made???

 

I have to get the wife’s approval first. I know what she will say. “If you sell that you will want a another one” meaning more money that I can’t afford as a beginning lawn care professional..

You can find a 3rd gen in your area for less than that I’m sure? But a lot depends on maintenance, like timing belt every 90k miles...

 

Last I checked it’s bout $500 shipped usually?

Thanks for the info. I actually looked at one online today. I was excited because it had its beginnings in Florida, but it spent the majority of its time here in Ohio.

 

The other side has a big dent from when eight pointer ran into me...Did not phase him one bit...

 

It’s hard to find northern vehicles that aren’t rusty, except if you find one that’s been regularly sprayed with something like Fluid Film. I’ve seen older vehicles that were maintained over their lives, and they looked pretty good, certainly acceptable.

 

And hit a doe with the front left tire. Removed the fairing but i reattached. I ate that one.

 

I recommend ground shipping. Overnighting it will totally eat into your budget.

That 2004 sport with only 66K miles is an awesome deal especially if it is 4wd.
