I used 1/8 steel for the bracket, 25k lb tensile strength cabling, and steel re-enforced shackles for the top. Once I build my front bumper I’ll move the mounting locations

An SR5 is a great build platform, as it's more of a blank slate.

    Lockers can be added.

You're going to hear various opinions on how useful or necessary Crawl Control and Multi Terrain modes are. The fact is that they are useful tools that you may never need. I am glad to have them, but they are not necessary for off-roading.

I don't agree with the mentality of not wanting them just because they could fail, though. A locker could fail. A winch could fail. Anything can fail. That's not a good reason not to have it.

    To answer the question:

If you're happy with your purchase, you did not screw up.

If you wish you had bought an off-road, then you did.

I could do everything I do with an SR5. But, I wanted the off-road. I figured if I'm spending nearly $40K, I'm getting what I want.

My SR5 has taken me everywhere I wanted to go, up to and including Top of the World. Top of the World they recommend at least one locker, but my SR5 took me there! ATRAC will get you a lot of places. Enjoy the SR5 and take it to its limits.

As long as you have 4x4 you're mostly good to go. Upgrade the tires and suspension first will make it a very capable off roader for 90% of the roads you plan to go.

The best way for something not to break is to not have it to begin with, and the best way for something not to break and do something weird to your normal usability is also to not have it to begin with. Could you imagine being stuck in crawl control mode?

Maybe you should have bought a 2wd. You wouldn't want to get stuck in 4wd.

In order for this to happen, you would need to be stuck in 4LO as well. Best not to have a transfer case at all at that rate.

4WD is an acceptable vector for failure.

Either way, I think having some extra features to get me out of a situation is worth it.

I think a better reason to not have things is because you don't want or need them.

Agreed, better to have then not have and need it.

I bought my TRDOR because it's what I wanted. Had I fallen for an SR5, I would have bought one. I'm fortunate enough to be in a position that I could have bought any trim level, but I wanted the TRDOR. My philosophy is nobody else is going to make my payments, so they get no say in what I buy.

Questions like the OP posed always generate a sh*tstorm of justification posts for why so-and-so bought what they did, PLUS why they didn't buy what they didn't. Everyone got what they wanted/needed/couldn't live without, and no one can say they were right or wrong to do so.

Will I use every feature on my OR? Sometime, maybe. Do I need them for what I do? Probably not. Why is that anyone else's concern? It isn't. Does the rest of the 4R community need to buy what I bought? No.

I dont have buyers remorse, however, in hindsight with the upgrades I want i should have bought a pro. Im not looking for LT suspension and the fox setup does well, better tires and color choices too.

Am I happy with my OR? Absolutely .. make it what you want. Obviously the aftermarket is almost to jeep levels in customization on runners.

Things like tires, suspension, lockers are relatively easy. Upgrading a non Premium to Premium pkg not so much. Even still... its yours, who cares? I promise you no one else does.
