Biggest tires without lift?

I have a 2019 trd pro and I am trying to fit 33-34 inch tires without lifting the vehicle yet and have no rubbing. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this?

 

Just go 35’s, it’s only one inch away. You’ll be fine

 

Contact Toyota and let them know of your request for 33-34's with no lift and rubbing. When they incorporate this into the 6th gen, buy a 6th gen.

i have 255/80/17 Cooper ST MAXX on mine on SCS BR6 wheels and had to trim the fender/ liner. I didn't do a body mount chop though. It still rubs on the passenger side occasionally when compressed while turning or with the wheels fully turned to either side in reverse.

I didnt really care about trimming though because i plan on lifting it/ getting a C4 fabrication lo-pro bumper and then doing the high clearance trimming

 

Seriously, it’s too bad Toyota couldn’t learn a lesson from Ford and give us a 35s option like the Bronco.

 

Not going to happen. But, you might get close if you stick to a 33" or smaller, adjust the mud-flaps or delete them, get a body-mount chop, and have an alignment shop max out your caster. With all of this, it might only rub when you turn.

 

Yeah, I know this is the answer, Thatbassguy. But what’s a hassle for us, would be really simple for the design guys in Toyota to solve on the drawing board.

 

I sometimes wonder if they intentionally design it that way so that people will modify it and give them a way to deny warranty claims?

I would love to run 35's, but I don't know how much I want to hack up the truck to do it.

 

I guess they’ve done the market research and not that many of us want it, lol. You don’t even see the after market offering a redesigned fender, inner fender and cab mount as a kit to make it easy. So, I guess there’s no $ in it. It works for Ford, though.

 

I did see some high clearance fenders are available. But, you're right; It's really a project you have to piece together.

 

Guarantee Toyota outsells the Bronco while still catering to the pavement pounders. People who "off road" or really need those bigger tires and the minority here. Your average soccer mom does not want.

 

It says something about quality when so many folks would rather hack the shit out of a Toyota to run 34's and 35's when they could buy a Jeep and a cheap lift kit and run 37's. Obviously 35's and 37's are not a necessity for what 90+% of what we all do with these things, but I would gladly take the extra clearance if it was as easy as fitting them on a Wrangler.

 

I don’t know, I don’t think there’s a need for 35’s to bolt right on. For one it’s not geared for it, and no normal trail REQUIRES 35’s. If you’re truly needing 35s to get through a trail you’re rock crawling or doing some pretty gnarly stuff, at that point your an enthusiast and no enthusiast wants to do that type of stuff on a stock vehicle, if you’re wanting 35s and to not do that type of stuff, well, get fucked poser. Not to mention every asshole with easily fit 35s would be asking about fitting 37s. If it was easy everyone would install 35s to cruise around town and hard park on curbs... like Jeeps.

I’m off the mindset that it’s best figure out where you want to go, research what tire size is the go to for said trail/area, then pick a vehicle platform that’s easily fits that size to build off of.

It was one of “those” days and I’m away from home and the family at my work mansion (really nice 8 bedroom 9 bathroom house, on a secured site in the middle of fuck all nowhere). It’s vodka night. Redbull and vodka night to exact, mainly because that’s what’s here and the closest grocery or liquor store is about 50 minutes each way. I’m finding 6 oz of vodka per 8.4 oz can of Redbull to be the optimal mixture lol.

Personally I like Sailor Jerry. But being from the Midwest you should try Kilo Kai rum, they don’t sell it out west but everytime friends drive out to visit they know they must bring a 1.75 of it with.

 

I'll keep an eye out for it. I've been liking Diplomatico and El Dorado for sipping. This Captains is way too sweet for that.

 

Gearing is definitely the issue. That’s why it would be great if you could order the tire size you wanted as an option, and the manufacturer figured it out for you. Like the new Bronco Sasquatch package. That would be great for a 4 Runner. You can specify tire and wheel size on a new Defender too.
I just see where Ford acceded to customer demands for a manual trans with their Sasquatch - that’s probably a record for a manufacturer responding to its customers!

 

yeah I've always wondered the allure to 35s. The fact runner come stock with 31 10.50s is actually decent. Ive had my bone stock ORP (even for enthusiasts) is some gnarly shit. Im not calling the dunlops great but I was surprised how they held up in some ruts I was hitting.

Before tires, suspension, bumpers, and winches the DRIVER is the most important thing off road. My buddies call me crazy for mudding/minor crawling the runner off road lately "what the hell you think i bought it for, if I wanted a road princess I would have bought a highlander". I sigh when I see a beautiful, shiny, showroom condition runner with $5k in upgrades and not a single scratch or battle scar on it. To each their own. My point is the runner is probably more capable than you are courageous to tackle an obstacle. If you want a road princess by all means (looking at you jeep owners) but i didn't spend near $50k to not use it

My job is quality testing and development of preproduction and prototype vehicles and technology for the luxury and exotic brands of a very big automotive group. I travel between test facilities all over the US -hot and dry, hot and humid, cold, severe cold, dense shitty traffic. Different stations have different secrecy levels allowing different types of vehicles to run there. There’s top secret - which I’m not going to say anything at all about, secret - which has the cars you see posted online with black and white patterned camo once it’s known to be coming but hasn’t officially been unveiled, and semi secret - which is uncamo’d preproduction vehicles and production vehicles testing updates/recalls/new parts prior to costumer release. Some of the stations are so f’n remote in the middle of nowhere there inside the hidden secured facility is a giant on site house to stay in because staying in a hotel wold be hours or commuting back and forth. The house I’m currently in is 8 bed room, 9 bathroom, with screened in porch, pool table, living room with giant tv lay-z-boy recliners, video games, etc. nice big open kitchen, multiple full size refrigerators etc - it’s my work mansion. It’s nice and all, but your totally secluded from the outside world other than your weekly or biweekly 1.5 hour round trip drive just to get to and from the closest actual grocery store.

 

That sounds like an awesome job to me!

 

Like everything it has it’s ups and downs, but overall I like it.

It definitely sucks having to destroy and scrap so many expensive vehicles with practically no miles on them, because as a whole, hardware versions of everything In the vehicle are too old and outdated to continue relevant testing. The biggest down sides for sure are the amount of time away from the family, and the over the top non disclosure agreements and confidentiality stuff. I legally can’t discuss what specifically I do, how I do it, where I do it for, and who I do it for. It’s to the point that there’s a location that I’m not allowed to fly into the state it’s located in, I fly to a neighboring state and get picked up, and eventually get a locally owned vehicle that blends in because there can’t even be a travel record of me being there. My own wife doesn’t even know where I go for that one, hell my coworkers don’t know where it is. I have the coolest job but I can’t really tell anyone about it.It’s definitely awesome getting to spend hours and hours driving and abusing 7-8-900+ hp cars to see How they perform in different conditions and if they break. And getting to play with the next generation tech that the general public won’t even get read about for another year or two is pretty cool. In my travels I’ve made of hobby of hitting up non-chain local BBQ/smokehouse restaurants. Work travels have allowed me try 72 (I have a running list) different BBQ restaurants across the US at this point... I’d make a blog reviewing them or something but I can’t talk about where I went for work lol

 

I can see how it's not all upside (what is lol) especially not being able to tell people about your adventures. But seriously that's a pretty cool job. I would love to do something like that. I like traveling, being in different environments and I love cars. The BBQ thing is a nice touch! Fun to have a hobby like that. Congrats and stay safe.
