30K mile maintenance 2018 ORP

    The dealer "suggests" I get the Front/Rear Dif, Transmission and coolant flush, brake, fuel injector clean ontop of the regular oil change.

    I did elect to get the transmission and coolent flush, but should I get the front/rear diff now or is it too early? I only have 27K (2018 Off Road) miles and mostly daily driver with a handful of summer trips towing smaller camper the last 2 years.

    He suggested to wait to 60K to get the fuel injector and sparkplugs.

    Everyone has different opinions on the diff.

    I say just follow the manual. Some do it sooner some don't do it at all.

    Some of those things sound really premature to me.

    You can make an argument for trans and diff fluid changes since you tow, but it doesn't make sense to do a coolant flush, brake flush or fuel injector cleaning this early.

    I think they're trying to make a little extra money off you, IMO.

    Thanks. I figured they are just up-selling. I figured the trans-fluid would be a good one at an interval of 30K, when towing and the heat building up in the transmission, this can break down the oil quickly. Some told me that if your transmission light comes on (which typically means overheating) then you must get the oil replaced as once the oil hits that high heat mark, its no longer any good.


    I had a 2004 Jeep grand, I changed the diff fluid and transfer case fluid once in 185k miles at about the 150K mark. Seemed to work out ok LOL. Yea the coolant may have been a bit early, but can't hurt to get it done now vs in another year.

    The fact the Jeep as a whole made it to 185k is amazing. Nevermind the fluid change.

    The dealer hasnt mentioned anything other than oil change and tire rotation so far.

    I think this is due to using Valvoline oil, changing like clock work every 3K miles. I had a 1992 Subaru that went to 280K miles, I only used Valvoline oil. Never once missed an oil change. :)

    Granted a lot of other things failed in the jeep which I replaced, thousands of dollars later. But no engine or transmission failures.

    It may be a little late but as per the manual, it needs an air filter, cabin filter oil change, and tire rotation. Collant is a super long life and it is due at 100,000 miles. and the trans fluid is synthetic it goes long. but you can do it at 90. diff fluids depending on your towing. But for a sure oil change. If you buy Toyota Autocare or Toyota care plus they only cover what is recommended by Toyota.

    35 k is only tire rotation. $ runner has 0w20 oil which is good for 10,000 miles or 12 months.

    I thought the oil lasted that long, so I am questioning why the dealer suggestions it getting done every 5K.

    I just did the air filter and cabin filter, and tire balance/rotate, also replaced my wife's corola air filters.

    So get this, a week after I got this done, and after the guy at the dealer said I didn't need the spark plugs and fuel injector and to wait, he sends me a coupon for 10% off to get all of the items that I didn't elect for (Diff, sparkplugs) Crooks!!

    The manual has a list of conditions they consider "severe." If your driving style falls into that category, they recommend 5K intervals. This includes things like towing, off-roading, etc. I've been doing 5K.
