    After market remote starter
Good afternoon, I just bought a 2015 4 runner, I did an out of province inspection and it fail because I has a aftermarket remote starter but it does not has the security hood pin and the remote starter work with the hood open, they have asked me to install the hood pin so they can inspect it and it can pass. I would like to know, first at all where to buy it? How to do the electrical installation so the remote starter don't work when the hood is open? I know were to place the pin , but that is it. Thanks in advance for your help.

    To many to list
It might be easier to uninstall the remote starter and have it inspected and put it back when they are done. It’s pretty easy to do.

If you know the company who made/sold the remote start kit, check with them to see if they offer a hood pin add on. Many do. Just have to find somewhere under the hood to mount it, then run the wire into the cab/under the dash, to the remote start unit.

How did the inspector know you have a remote start? Give him the OEM key fob next time.
