Well the trail was a little moist today and she got high centered on some deep ruts and she was stuck rather submerged. Thank God for friends and recovery gear. It took 2 in tandem with Max Trax under 2 of our tires to get us off the high center. She also got water up over her hood a few times and resulted in a soaked air filter.

We saved the engine from being hydrolocked this time but may have to seriously look into adding a friggin snorkel.

And here is when the air filter got soaked and we nearly ate the engine. The hubby was driving now too fast in order to keep from bogging down. I know he shouldn't have been driving that fast and should have been behind the bow wake and all but he was determined not to get stuck again so water went over the hood twice and soaked the air filter.

A snorkel or maybe carry a tape measure with you, Fourtoad. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong but the stock wading depth in a 5th Gen is 22” for reference. Some adventures aren’t worth the cost, such as drowning a motor for no good reason.

I'm glad you guys go out ok! That trail looks like a situation where I would turn around.

Usually, when I come across standing water i want to drive through, I'll put on waders and walk through it first. In Florida, I would be afraid of finding an alligator in there. How do you guys check depth down there?

This is a trail in the Yucca Pen called "Rusty Truck" that we have been down several times before. We had quite a bit of rain lately due to all the storm activity which is why there was now all that standing water on our trail. If the water crossing looked questionable, there was one guy that would get out and walk it to show us all where to drive. The only reason we got stuck is hubby was going a bit too slow and slid into the deep rut we were trying to avoid. This high centered us. We usually split the ruts when we can see them for this reason. Also I will say, due to all the water we only did half the trail and turned back at the halfway point. I am not a fan of so much water. I prefer mud and sand. I would say 70% of the entire trail was under water. It meanders thru a cow field and is normally dry...so no gators. Even if there were gators, they don't bother me, unless it's mating season, then they can be a bit testy.

In hind sight, I know we shouldn't have decided to go on the trail but I wanted to wheel so freakin bad :mudding: it was killing me. It's my fault. I just crave trail riding and can't wait to leave this swamp and do some more interesting trails up North...which is anywhere north of here.

Afraid not. We did check all the cases and everything looked good. Will have to look into doing that as well. Trying to find a suitable snorkel for a Gen 2 now.

I went to Yucca Penns the last time I was down! I would love to go through there again with someone who knows the way around. What are you guys up to late next February?? ;)

If I have my way......finally.....we will no longer be down here is this shithole. I am looking at a piece of property in Live Oak, Fl now. 5 acres in town. Lots of good riding up there. I just have to get out of here before I go postal.

It isn't bad if the bottom is solid. This is where waders really come in handy. I've been through about 2-2.5' of water with no issues after walking through with the waders. Of course, you could do this in sandals or barefoot, but I'm too scared.

Watched a video from the 3.slow gang and they showed one Gen2 set up with a stage 2 suspension lift that looks pretty good. Might help us get that little extra clearance we need. Also need to look at getting a rear locker.
