Ok AtgParker or whoever, where do we find header gaskets for these Gen 2's? We have a leak on the passenger side and the only ones we can find locally are the OEM moulded type. We need the flat type for the headers.
Any thought on who might have them?

Now I just have to hope they are fast shippers as we have a 1000 mile trip coming up in a little more than a week and we need this taken care of beforehand.

Rebuilt Engine MLS and ARP on the heads, DT Header, 2-1/2" CARB compliant Flow-Master CAT with 2.0" Bosal CAT back Dayco 1-1/4" Spacers, SkyJacker M-Series Monotube Shocks, Ball Joint Spacers. 95-9006 K&N Air Cleaner, G-Plus Alum Radiator, ZIrgo 16" Fan, Derale Temp switch/relay
My supplied Thorley gaskets were done once the HG let go. So after the engine rebuild I got creative. I took the set of OEM steel layered gaskets from my rebuilt kit and got busy with my die grinder and some tin snips. I removed the heat shrouding that roasts the spark plug leads and made them flat and so they would just fit just around the header to head openings with a pair of holes for the header bolts to go through. I think there was a lobe I had to remove as it interfered with the PS or something that bolted to the head.

The supplied DT-Header bolts have this nice chamfer at the thread to head union and with some never seize on them they have been leak free for >10K miles. A couple of those header bolts are very difficult to tighten and I found a ratcheting box end wrench to be very good for tightening some of them. The others you can get with extension/s through the wheel well.

The OEM studs can be used with a header but you will never get the headers in place once the engine is sitting on its mounts in the frame. I haven't tried pulling a motor with the headers installed but that might work if the head studs just have to be used for some reason.
