Question about installing a new radio

Hello Guys..I'm getting ready to install a new radio in my rig. I purchased the radio through Cruthfield, who gave me the wiring connecters to install the radio. My question is...do I leave the factory "amp" in and plug into it? Or do I remove the amp and plug into those wires? If it helps this is what I bought...

Right now I'm just installing the radio, but in the near future I'll be adding an amp, new speakers and what not.

Oh you will love this KW. I have the model just under it and I LOVE IT!!!!!! The Bluetooth works great also.

Remove it. The wiring you received shouldn't even connect to it.

 

@Ol'Blue thank you for the great review on my Kenwood deck!! So glad to hear the Bluetooth works so great...that's one of the main reason I picked this unit

So...did you wire your radio into the factory amp?? Or just pull the amp?? Thanks..

Thanks @MStudt for the response! Awesome...if I can get rid of the factory amp and wiring...that will save me a ton of space. Actually, that'll make more than enough room for my aftermarket amp...lol!!

Hey RussToy: I see you're changing the radio. I have a 99 limited that I changed and used the factory amp. The problem was that I had a single 15 pin connector which all the sites said I didn't have. I finally found it at best buy. Just remember to wire the antenna and amp power together and mine works great. If the radio you bought sets deep in the dash the rca connectors will hit the heater box. But you can get 90 deg adapters for this application from jap shack or parts express. I cut no wires doing this was simple and the factory amp was ok for me.

 

@tbird this is what I was wanting to know. Did you want to use the factory amp? Or did you have to use it to make all the wiring work...after you got the 15 pin?? I personally want to get rid of the amp. But if I have to use it....so be it. Sounds like I need to make a trip to Best Buy...get that 15 pin adapter. I'm already using a 90* adapter. I got rid of my stock antenna...I'm using a splitter and that allows me to share the CB's antenna...but thanks for the heads up!

Oh no I shit canned the factor amp man. They run off different Oms so with out the factory head unit they are junk pretty much. I pulled all the speakers also and I run Memphis in it.

 

Sweet!! That's awesome the hear!! This is definitely what I'm going to do...dump that amp. I too am looking at changing out all my speakers...I'm looking at going with Hybrid Audio speakers. I've heard real good thing about them. Thanks @Ol'Blue your input/help!!
