Hello all, I am new to the 4runners and to the forum. I have a 2020 TRD OR, looking to buy the blistein 5100's to add a little more clearance for tires. I want to be able to fit 285/70r17. Do I need to buy springs in order to accommodate this? I've watched some videos on YT where they used the 5100's plus springs and same tires I want, but then realized that the 5100's are meant to work with stock springs. I apologize if this has been asked before! TYA

5100's will work with stock springs, but you'll be able to lift the front with them and not the rear.

If you want to lift the rear, you'll have to either purchase lift coils or a spacer.

Also, just be mindful that a lift doesn't automatically mean you'll clear 285's. Tire clearance also depends on your wheel specs and alignment. With 285's, you'll most likely have to trim something in the front fender well, but it's usually pretty easy.

okay that makes sense, thanks! I know sell the cornfed spacers among others, but I would rather add spinrgs instead. Feels like it would ride better. What springs do you recommend??

As far as fitting tires, my plan is to use the stock off road wheels with 285/70r17 BFGs KO2s. I know they do BMCs and other things.

Your rear springs will depend on how much you want to lift the front and the back relative to one another.

Most people go with the ratio of 1:0 where they raise the front of the vehicle 1" more than the rear of the vehicle. This retains some factory rake so if you carry some weight in the back often, you're not going into negative rake.

Some people go level, where you raise the front 1.75:0.

Some people like to retain the factory rake and lift the vehicle by the same height at all 4 corners.

    Just depends on your preference.

So how high do you want to go in the front? How high in the back? Will you be adding a significant constant load to the vehicle like bumpers, sliders, winch, ect....?

yeah I tow a bass boat so I would like to keep a little bit of a rake at the front.

I went 2.5 up front, 1 inch rear for little rake. very minor trimming for 285s.
I'm thinking of trying 2" front and 1/2" in back and hoping tires still clear

man that looks clean! You used blistein shocks? What did you use to lift the rear? Spacers or springs? What settings are your front shocks at?
