Hi! I’m a FNG. Do I need to drop tranny on V6 engine swap?
My next move is the starter. The book says I do but just curious if that’s really necessary

I've replaced 4 starters in my 2005 V6 with 150,000 miles. OEM lasted 4 years. Get a QB as they come with lifetime warrantee replacement. Costs for 1 at Amazon is $100.

Tranny's on 4 runners can last 400,000 miles

No, you don’t have to drop the tranny to do an engine swap. You do have to remove the starter though because the torque converter bolts are accessed through the opening after removing the starter.
