Hi all, I'm new to the forum and a new owner of a 4th gen: 2003 Sport 4x2.

Problem: it won't pass emissions inspection because the check engine light won't come on during startup. Fail.

I pulled the instrument cluster out and discover this model is LED lights, so not an easy bulb replacement (assuming that was the issue).

First, what other issue might be causing CEL not to come on, other than instrument cluster wiring/LED/issue?

Assuming it is an LED issue in the cluster, what are my reasonable options to fix...do I just need to buy a complete replacement instrument cluster?

While i'm basic handy/mechanical, trouble shooting a circuit board and replacing/soldering LEDs is not something i've done or have experience in.

Looking for ideas on directions to take possibly...other than just searching out a new instrument cluster.

    Thanks.
