Not changing gears

    96 5 speed 4runner surf limited
    hey, new here from australia........ my 96 5 speed v6 limited won't change gears, what i mean is it will shift without a clutch but wont mesh, the transfer case is the same, would it be low on gear oil? cheers any help would be appreciated

    RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
    So, the shifter moves like normal, but it doesn't go into gear?

    Yes it moves like normal but not going into gear

    Hmmm.. Could it be the linkage?

    Did this happen while driving? My MR2 transmission quit halfway through an intersection one day. No gears at all. I was told the planetary gear probably crapped out. That transmission was severely abused. :)

    It’s a manual, push button on 4wd shift.... will check oil level once I get the filler bolt off...... then let you know what my next move if that doesn’t work

    Yes, the MR2 was manual as well. I hope it's not a similar problem.
