I notice that the front of my car has an issue with chipped paint. This is occurring right near the edge of the panel that boarders the headlight. Worse still the small chips all show of minor rust setting in. These chips are a few millimetres at best, but the rust is concerning. I already plan on ordering touch up paint but I want to make sure the rust is dealt with before I cover it up. Rust is my nemesis and I see it as cancer, believing that any spec left unattended will spread lead to bubbling paint, rot, and holes where there should not be.

I plan on using a small metal engraver (picture a sharp pencil but instead of lead at the end its tungsten) to pick off the rust before using the touch up paint to fill and protect the now exposed metal.

Would this work or is there a better way?

I'll try to post photos of this rust later to give you a better idea
