    New to forum. Just bought bilstein 5100 front lift and 2.5 spacers for rear. Looking for advice on tire and rim sizes/styles to avoid rubbing. Not wanting to go extra big as I’m toying with wife’s primary car without her input.. 2017 platinum black 4wd. Also, do most folks buy a fifth tire and rim for spare or will old tire/rim suffice in pinch and fit in under carriage?

    If you want 100% guaranteed no rubbing, go 275/70/17 on the stock wheels. Any bigger and it seems that it’s really a gamble on whether or not you’ll rub and need to remove mud flaps and/or do a body mount chop. And buying a spare in the same size is ideal.
    Did your 5100’s come with coils or are you using the stock ones and pre loading the shock to achieve the lift?

    I have my stocker in the spare with 285s.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Most prefer to lift with springs VS spacers. 2.5" is a lot of lift for a spacer. There's not necessarily anything wrong with it, though.

    If you change your mind, though, there are a lot of lift coil options. And, they're not really that expensive.

    I would recommend installing your 5100’s and seeing how you feel about the look. I would most definitely not add spacers onto front 5100’s.Just my opinion.

    You should’ve got 5100s for front and back with new lift coils instead of the spacers you’re gonna have a crappy ride, and you probably need UCas depending on lift height but you could probably get away with not if under 2”

    From what I read, he got 5100s for the front, and 2.5" spacers for the rear. I believe max lift for the Bilstein is 2.5", so he'll basically be at the same rake as factory, only 2.5" taller.

    That should allow the 285s, but with some trimming. Maybe.

    However, aftermarket wheel offset, the specific tire, and some black magic is involved in figuring out what fits.

    I installed a Daystar 2.5" lift for the front with a 1.5" lift for the rear. It's now perfectly level and supposedly 285s will fit. My ride is unchanged and the vehicle looks great. I got in my set of Cooper Evolution MTs and they just might work.

    Still, today I took a grinder to the inside edge of my fender and trimmed it back to the fender liner. I'm fairly sure they will fit for normal driving, but might be some rubbing under off-road conditions.

    Just for comparison sake, I have 5100's all around with 2.5" lift in front and 2" spacer in rear and ride is excellent!

    Ok. So I switched it up and went 5100s on back and front and icon 2” lift rear coil springs. Someone had posted about UCAs and pardon my ignorance but I’m Not sure what that was referring to and if I truly need them. Please advise.

    Upper control arms. As you lift higher, the stock upper control arms won't allow enough caster. Aftermarket UCA's add caster to get your alignment in spec. If you're lifting around 2.5" or less, you can usually get by without them.

    I have a very similar setup as you, I have Fox’s in the rear paired with the 2” rear icons and 3” up front. Go get everything installed and see if your alignment tech can align your truck with factory UCA’s at 2”. As mentioned, it should be doable but it’s really a hit or miss at/above 2” of lift. If you plan on doing any off-roading I would suggest you might as well get them.
