I have a 2020 TRD PRO 4Runner. I want to increase the clearance and make the runner look tougher. I was told that I will need to get rid of my TRD PRO skid plates in order to increase tire size to prevent rubbing. Is this information accurate and if so, why would Toyota limit itself? I got the TRD PRO because I want to do some over landing. I feel that I may have issues due to Stock tire sizes. I don’t want to lose my skid plate either.

Toyota doesn't limit itself for people wanting to modify the vehicle past OEM specs, so I'd toss that frame of mind :) Toyota can't endorse a lift because it carries a legal ramification if they suggest they support it.

Your skid plate is fine, I have a TRD Pro skid on my Offroad, and it's lifted 2.5".

I'm not sure where you're getting that intel, but certainly consider that your biggest danger is misinformation, so if you're hearing this intel from a dealership, ignore them. They know how to sell and service stock vehicles. That's it.

I felt like this message is being delivered harshly, but understand that's not my intent. We are here to help and I want you to ask us questions.

You seem very new to this, as many of our new owners are. We all started somewhere. It's nice to consider mods and the look, it's an important part of the culture to make it your own. Resist the urge just a bit, learn a lot, and make a more informed choice. You have a VERY quality suspension, when you look back in 3 years at where you are then vs where you are now, you'll ask yourself why did you change this, cut this, alter this in a way to make the vehicle look better but perform worse, etc. Right now you have a blank canvas, before you pick up the brush, make sure you know what you want to paint.

Yeah Sam don’t rush into it. I have not done anything to my 2020 Pro yet. I plan on lifting it a little with keeping my fox suspension. I’m leaning towards the new springs from Eibach which will swap out your factory ones and still be red. It will lift the front 1.6 and the rear 1 inch higher than already is. But I’m holding off till someone else does the install and get some feed back from them. I only want to do this once. Good luck.
