I have owned a 2007 4Runner since new and it is currently sitting at 200,000 miles with only the usual maintenance. We had been casually looking for a new one and ran across a wonderful deal on a 2020 4Runner X-Series Gunner Edition and purchased it several weeks ago. It was a 14 hour round trip to NC to pick it up but was well worth the drive. I have added window tint and weathertech floot mats so far. The next add will probably be a Yakima roof rack unless someone has a better opinion or option for ideas on that. My daughter who is in college is the owner of a 2017 Rav and loves it. We have totally become a Toyota family through and through. Cannot wait to keep adding awesomeness to this 2020. I also gave my 2007 some love with new weathertech floor mats and a full on detailing, carpet and seat cleaning.

What’s included in a 4Runner X-Series Gunner Edition? I guess we don’t get special editions on the West Coast.

I love the black out look on grey! Heads up on installing roof basket, I removed mine because it killed fuel economy. The aesthetics of a basket was amazing but I'm all about function over form. To put into perspective at 110km/h, with basket I got 13-14L/100km and without basket i get 10-11L/100km. On a windy day with the basket you may lose out even more efficiency.

 

How was the noise and perceived turbulence from the basket?

 

No noise with wind deflector and noticeable low fumble without deflector.
With basket I felt surprised at how quickly the deceleration was from letting off the gas. Now without basket i feel normal.

20” gloss black Gunner wheels with all-terrain tires, black crushed oval step boards, black emblem overlays, XP badging and black exhaust tip. I'm not sure how rare this is but I've only seen the Tundra and a few 4Runners with the gunner edition add ons. The 4Runner comes in a predator edition also. When I saw it I was sold right then. Had to keep myself from seeming to giddy when I went and looked at it.

 

This is a southeast Toyota only option on the x-series editions. I'd never heard of one until my wife ran across this one in NC on the internet one night. I knew then I was driving to NC.
