Removing window tint? Does it protect the interior of my 4runner from cracking plastic?

I have an early 3rd gen that has this awful purple window tint that I put on a while ago. I want to remove it but I am afraid that it has been protecting the interior of my car from harmful UV rays that cause the plastic trim to crack.

My car miraculously has not had any cracking of the plastic dash (knock on wood :)) despite living in a sunny area.

Should I remove the window tint and does it provide any protection to the interior? What window tint should I replace it with if any?

    To be determined
Go fancy and remove it and replace with a ceramic tint of your liking

It will help some yes, I'd put something back in it's place. Find a reputable tint shop who uses quality tints, such as Llumar or something of the like. The sketchier places use cheap stuff that purples over time, and they also install it terribly. I've had vehicles done by my tint place in Tx that does mine that are 10 years old and it's still perfect.
