Hi folks! New member here and first post. Sold my 1986 Jeep CJ7 recently and replaced with a beater 1995 Toyota 4Runner with 244K miles on it. I'm stoked!

Need Help Please - "O/D off" light lit full time, won't go off. 95 4Runner, 2nd generation.

I'm not very mechanical and had a mobile mechanic try to change out my shifter bushings yesterday20200710_081607.jpg 20200710_081607.jpg due to a sloppy automatic shifter pedal. He got halfway in and gave up. After he put it back together, my "O/D OFF" dash light is lit full time, not blinking. He said he put it all back together correctly and that there is only one way the electrical connector to the O/D button can go on.

Can anyone tell me why the light is staying on, or what I should do to diagnose the issue?

I understand that driving with O/D off full time is bad for the vehicle so want to take care of this asap.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You are going to have to get in there to see if maybe he didn't hook up one of the connectors. Replacing the bushings was actually pretty easy. Take all the trim pieces off and you should be able to see if they are hooked up.

Just take your time and take pictures or draw out each step as you take it apart. There is a very good write up for replacing your bushings out there. I will try to find it. I am not much of a mech but I did it in about 2 hours by taking my time and taking pictures so it went back together easy.

New to you 2nd Gen Runner. Did you push the OD (on/off) button on the shifter. Sometimes it get pushed in or out by accident. Got to look for it, its hidden. I know from experience...
