Hello. We have a 2001 4runner limited with V6. When we turn on left turn signal, it clicks really fast and doesn’t light (in or out of vehicle). If we turn it off and turn it back on again it clicks normally. If that isn’t crazy enough, when it is clicking rapidly and not working, if we turn the brights on, it will click normally and work again temporarily. Also, with the hazard lights on, it works perfectly fine. Since it works perfectly fine with the hazard lights, it wouldn’t seem like a bulb or a fuse problem, would it? What else could it be? Thank you in advance for your insights.

It could be in the switch, they get worn out, sometimes you can take it apart and fix it, or get one from the pick & pull.

Thank you so much. Can you tell me the official name for that switch so I can research?

yeah, it's the turn signal switch. I had a very similar issue. It will be possibly called a multi-function switch. Don't get the cheap Amazon ones...they don't click off. Toyota had mine for pretty cheap. I just plugged my VIN into PARTSOUQ.COM and went to the diagram with the steering column to get the part number. Then I ordered from an on-line discount Toyota dealer.

I would swap out the bulbs first since it’s cheap
