I just bought a 1996 T4R SR-5 V6, automatic trans, 2 wheel drive. I think I may have bought a lemon. At the test drive, it ran like a scalded cat, with plenty of power. everything seemed to be working fine. I spent time and money getting it ready to pass the California smog test: new spark plugs, oil change (10W-40) with an after market filter, new air filter, cleaned MAF with CRC MAF cleaner, new battery, ran fuel injection cleaner through system. Checked vacuum hoses for any possible leaks. Everything appeared ready for the smog test.
On the way to smog station, the T4r died on the freeway. Not even any hazard lights. New Battery totally dead.
took out battery and had Auto Zone recharge it for me. vehicle started right up. On the way home the idiot oil light came on, but only in IDLE. At 1000+RPM's the light went out. Almost got home when it died AGAIN.

So, it looks like I may have 2 big problems: charging and low oil pressure.
I am in desperate need for a complete wiring diagram for the charging system, 3rd generation. . It is NOT in Haynes Repair Manual.
Thank you for any and all advice.

Thank you, TacOmaSteve. I appreciate your kind post. Not yet sure if it contains exactly what I need as it will take me awhile to work my way through. :hattip:

Look on-line for the Factory Service manuals. If you hunt you can find them. I found ones a few months ago.
