    Hi,

My mother-in-law's 4runner is making a crazy noise when starting it up. It sounds like a servo is trying to close a flap or something.

Here's a link to what I managed to record (hope I'm allowed to post links)

Does it do that before or after starting?

Can you tell where it's coming from? Could be something to do with heat/AC if it's in the dash.

Does it stop after a while? If you turn the AC/Blower off, does it stop?

It stops after about 30 seconds.. haven't really played with the AC controls.

Noise seems to come from the center area of the dash.

It does this almost every time the car is parked for 3 or more hours.

There's a Blower down there in the dash that is prone to fail. You'll know when it fails. It's plastic and made in Mexico for Toyota.

If you have good A/C, maybe change the filter behind the glove box.
