Hard core, long time domestic advocate; just got fed up with my 3rd Ram issues. My Mustang is not exactly doing well either.
Switching my vehicles to Toyota, the woman wants a hatchback (from a mustang, that speaks volumes) and I am leaning towards a 4Runner.
My first interaction with the local Toyota dealer has been absolutely amazing and puts all GM/Ford/Ram dealers to shame. I wish I knew about this much earlier in life.
Let's see where this road goes after a lifetime of domestics !
    Cheers.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Toyota’s are tough, dependable, and have the best driveability of any 4x4 vehicle. The 4 Runner is one of the best Toyota’s. Very, very high quality, far exceeding anything domestic by many kilometres. Oh yeah, low depreciation too.

Financing has been taken care of, they gave me a really good trade for my truck and i am financing the difference. No pressure, no push for extra stuff, no extra warranties speech, no tire scams, no nitrogen BS, no dealership fees, no other hidden crap, what the hell, Toyota, I wish I knew about this a long time ago!
The dealer currently hunting Ontario for a 4runner TRD Off Road in white.

My only concern with the car, and only concern, is the Softex leather - does it breath ok, back sweat, swass? I would've gotten cloth, but it is no longer available on the whole lineup in Canada.

Welcome. Sounds like a great dealer you found. They all should be that way, but unfortunately there's some predatory Toyota dealers around also.

I'm with you on the Softex, not a fan. I may have lucked into one of the few remaining cloth seat ORs, which was my choice, along with no sun/moon roof. Hence skipping the premium version. Good luck with the search!

Glad the dealer is treating you right! Mine did the same. Great trade in (last year FJ) and no games or gimmicks.

The leather has not bothered me but I do not run hot. No problems the last couple years of ownership.

The softex is great. Much much better than leather, on many counts, imho. I’m in Fergus, and I’ve mostly dealt with Forbes, although we bought the 4 Runner from Guelph Toyota. None of the local three of Guelph, Forbes or Heffners is very hip about modding any of their vehicles. Haha, I asked a service adviser in Guelph Toyota if there was anything special I needed to know to change out the suspension on my KDSS equipped OR. He said “what’s KDSS?”. So, I sent him a cool video that one of the moderators on here posted about it, and the next time I was in, I asked him if he learned anything about KDSS from the video and he said “what’s KDSS?”

Welcome! I drove Chevy for decades myself before wising up and realizing that my wife's 'yotas racked up almost no repair time compared to my side of the garage. Joined the 4Runner club June of 2019 and my only regret is not doing so sooner. Our local dealership...well the shop is actually pretty good (so far..) while the sales side is a stereotypical slimebag joint. We buy from a 'no haggle' place about 50 miles away. If you have one you trust, you're lucky.

Like others have noted, you buy these things not just because of their capability but due to their fantastic quality and durability. The 4Runner is especially good even by Toyota standards. As I understand it, it's assembled along side the Land Cruiser and several Lexis models -- not Toyota's mainstream models. So it even has a special place within Toyota's factory system.

My dealer was quite good on the sales side. Not that eager to negotiate (they had a lot of Runners but no trouble selling them!), but also not at all sleazy. Well, there was a hint of dishonesty when it came to the financing rate, but not a big deal and all worked out well. I was also favorably impressed by the service department when I went in for installation of the Toyota OEM High Performance LED Fog Lights.

Now, the other Toyota dealer near me -- wow. As sleazy as they come. Like, you would have thought you were back in the 1990s or something. Ridiculous.

    Ha, small world, isn't it...
I am getting it from Heffner as Forbes wasn't exactly stellar on 3 different occasions.
One of my kids just got a condo in Fergus, he's moving in Aug.

Probably Heffner’s is the best of the three. Congratulations on the 4 Runner! You won’t need a dealer too much, anyway, with a Toyota. Just warranty service checks so far for me. Fergus is a great town, very friendly and central.

I’d try Auto Trader and do a National search. You might save some $. Sure, not new, but if it’s what you want, who cares about a few low Kms? There’s all kind of circumstances that result in early trade ins and the warrantees are transferable anyway.

I just checked, there’s a white 2018 in Ottawa with 25k on it. And there’s a new one in in Alberta.

Thanks, I am looking for new. They gave me a good deal on my trade and of course, already done a hard check on my credit for the difference...
I will have to wait, the dealer says it might take a while to "align" the trade between dealers. Not sure how much BS that is, but I will roll with it into the new week.

The dealer wrote back, they are getting me a straight-from-the-factory one in the first week of Sept. Willing to wait as it is exactly what I wanted.
