I'm sure it's an easy delete, and it's not on the two lowest models at all. Plus, it looks good and you'll get over it. Also, some models come with steelies--it looks like an interesting ride. Certainly makes you think Toyota will (or at least should) take seriously both the 4R and LC rebrand/redesign.

I will trade in the station wagon for one after the beta testing is complete. 35's from the factory, who would have thunk it. Still like the old fullsize Bronco, but the new one could have been allot worse.

I will always love the old, original, smaller Bronco with the 302 V-8. Parnelli Jones and his Bronco that raced in the Baja 1000, was one of my favorites when I was a kid, along with Big Daddy Don Garlits and A.J. Foyt. Say what you will about Ford, but as a Blue Oval fan, I think they have put to some good product since the mid-2000s. Love my Shelby Mustang, Built well, accelerates faster than greased lightning. I expect after Ford gets the kinks out after a couple of years, the Bronco could become a dominant player. My 4Runner is my other baby, so she won't be going anywhere.

Now that we've seen the new Bronco and gotten a bunch of specs and car magazine analysis, it looks like it's going to make Fiat shit its pants. This thing is awesome looking and has great numbers. And given some of the issues that Jeeps have I can't believe a lot of potential Jeep buyers won't be making the switch. But as to the OP question: it seems a much bigger threat to the Wrangler than the Runner. No doubt it will pull some people who would have otherwise bought the Runner over the Wrangler, but it doesn't seem to have the same level of utility / cargo room as the Runner -- and of course no third row option. Today: you really want a Jeep but are kinda afraid of the Jeep -- you go 4Runner. Next year: you really want a Jeep but are kinda afraid of the Jeep -- you go Bronco.

So the Runner will continue to stand alone as a real body on frame truck that combines serious off-road chops with lots of cargo room and the option of a third row. And of course, it will continue to stand alone as the only BOF SUV with serious off-road chops that has a sterling reputation for reliability.

I am pumped on the 2 door.
Doing the $100 reservation thing and will wait for basically a year before these things are ready to roll out. Seems like a long time.
I am ready for something new and this thing fits the bill.

A very strong effort by Ford.

But personally, over a decade of overlanding, I've moved away from complexity and toward simplicity. The more time I've spent in the backcountry, the less I want to think about my rig or my gear. This thing is all about the bells and whistles. Job One was simply to out-Jeep Jeep, so they threw the kitchen sink at it.

Trouble is, the integration of all this stuff is completely unproven, so first-year owners will essentially be Ford beta testers. Woof. At least Jeep owners have a good sense of what they're getting into, for better or worse. The Bronco? Could be brilliant, could be an ownership nightmare.

At the opposite end of the spectrum sits the 4Runner. It's so boring that even Toyota barely gets excited about it. But it's built on a platform, and has an engine and transmission, that have been proven all over the world for well over a decade. And it's plenty capable -- more capable than even fairly serious overlanders need once you add better tires and a mild lift.

Ultimately, it's just two different philosophies for two different kinds of buyers. I wish Ford well. If this thing proves reliable, it could become the overlanding gold standard. But we won't know for about five more years.

2021 Ford Bronco has arrived, and it's got some cool features. I love the simplicity of the interior. I think they got that right. Comes in a ton of trim package options and models.

    • Removable doors and roof
    • 2 door and 4 door models
    • Touch screen for infotainment
    • Digital gauge screen option
    • Base 2.3L eco boost 4 banger vs. 2.7L eco boost V6
    • 7 speed manual available on 4speed only. It has six gears + special crawler gear

    Base - The Essential Bronco

This Bronco comes with only the absolute essentials, making it ripe for customization and personalization by a full line of factory-backed accessories. Don’t worry, though; it still has all the key features that make a Bronco a Bronco, such as standard 4x4, easy-to-remove doors and roof, and optional 35-inch tires in the Sasquatch Package.

    Big Bend - Mainstream Off-Roading

Interested in some creature comforts along with your standard Bronco features? Items such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, aluminum wheels, a power inverter and remote start? You can get those features (and more) with Big Bend. Make sure to check out the Mid Package Equipment Group.

    Black Diamond - Adventure Off-Roading

Next-level outdoor adventure comes with standard rear-locking differential, steel front and rear-bumpers, rock rails, heavy-duty skid plates and seven G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) to help navigate the trails. Marine-grade vinyl seat trim and a washout interior make for easy post-wheelin’ cleanup.

Outer Banks - Off-Roading in Style

Mounted on 18-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum-alloy wheels, this series features standard signature LED headlamps and taillamps, body-color fender flares and powder- coated tube steps. Inside, comfort and convenience for your off-road adventure come by way of an optional 12-inch LCD touchscreen and B&O

    Badlands - Extreme Off-Roading

Need a little more capability than what Black Diamond offers? Badlands has you covered. Bilstein position-sensitive monotube shocks, stabilizer bar disconnect, and front and rear-locking differentials make this the most capable Bronco you can get. Connecting all that torque to the ground are a choice of 35- and 33- mud, and all terrain tires. On the inside, Badlands offers the full range of interior appointments, from a sparse vinyl interior to a leather technology-packed option.

Wild Track - High Speed Offroading

Take thrills head-on with the standard Sasquatch Package: 35-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, front and rear-locking differentials, and Bilstein™ position-sensitive monotube shocks. Spinning those tires is a standard 2.7L twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and a 10- speed automatic transmission. Outside, Wildtrak comes with a black-painted hardtop, black grille, black wheels and unique hood graphics. Developed and tested in legendary racing locations like Johnson Valley, California, Bronco Wildtrak sets a new bar for capability among rugged, off-road utilities.

First Edition - (Reservations are full)

The First Edition Bronco is built for those who have waited patiently for Bronco’s return to the wild. The First Edition is a fully loaded Bronco combining the best parts of all Bronco Series. First edition uses the mechanicals of a Badlands, the interior of an Outer Banks, and exterior of a Wildtrak to create the ultimate fully loaded Bronco. This is a limited-edition run, with only 3,500 being manufactured.

My buddy sent this to me last night. Thought they did a really great job in the Bronco, Wrangler, and 4R comparison.

Ford has all the pics right on their website, which I linked to. And plenty of first-hand reviews on YouTube already.

Also lots of pics on google images too.

4 door roofline is ugly. 2 door looks good. The manual transmission with the crawl gear is pretty cool.4 door looks like a lego block stuck on a different generic brand set or something. Doesnt really look like it can do much more than 11 year old Gen 5 4runner could do :notsure: really any gen for that matter.

It's likely due to the longer wheelbase.

It doesn't really come across to me as designed for towing. It is first and foremost an offroader.

Imagine this thing with the Ford Mustang V8. It would be a beast.

This is pretty funny especially considering what Walt had to say about the son's LC or LX. Don't remember which

Not big on Fords but open to change if it’s worth it. Interesting to see more competition flood the market. Having options and choices is a good thing.

Having been through the Ford “Adm fee” process with the gt500 and raptor even if I did want this bronco I would wait. First because I won’t pay over sticker for a car and 2nd because as mentioned earlier let it work a few bugs out for a while.

I would love the front locker. That’s something I will miss in my ZR2 going to the 4Runner but for me it’s not a need just a like. I don’t see the Bronco targeting the 4Runner audience nearly as much as the jeep group which would be my wife but she loves jeep and it will take a lot to pull her away. I would prefer the bronco over the jeep as I do like Ford a lot. The bronco doesn’t strike me as the same level of fit as the 4Runner for my needs. I like the power rear window and sun roof set up so much it’s actually concerning and I just don’t have the desire to pull the doors off etc.

I loved my raptor and had zero problems but it was a 2013 not a 1st year model. That said my gt500 is a 2007 and it’s been flawless too but is pretty modified now.

in the end I really like the bronco but it’s just not what I want right now. The 4Runner checks all my boxes. Even beats out the land cruiser and discover I found between the rear window and the gas tank door being on the drivers side and the space and capability it’s just a tough one to beat.

I may be dumping my new 2020 Rav4 TRD OR for one of these.

Having issues with the Rav4 - currently have 3 errors on my dashboard and the battery dies if you don't drive it everyday.

    I'd go with a 2 door Sasquatch w/ 7 speed manual.

Looks like a solid platform for sure. If they work the bugs out in R&D and not release it too early, it will be an instant Jeep killer, depending on price. The soccer mom 4Runner owners will probably stick with seating and cargo advantages. So it might not affect the T4R in that segment. The only thing that stood out to me performance wise in the action videos, is the front to back bounce in the whoops. The short wheel base will take some shock tuning, but with 35s, you won't have a lot of wheel travel to compensate. But, most people that buy it won't be worried about speed in the whoops. The crawling segments look impressive right away. Agreed that the 4 door is FUGLY. The other thing that most likely won't be a problem is mileage, but range could be. Haven't looked at the specs, how big is the tank?

I'd think it will definitely compete in the Wrangler market. Jeep will have to up their game, and hopefully the introduction of the Hemi Wrangler and eventually the Gladiator will help. At the end of the day, it will come down to the serviceability and reliability. Those two factored into my buying my T4R when my Jeep started shitting the bed....

It would make sense if they want to compete apples for apples with Wrangler and Bronco. Bronco 4d, Wrangler, 4d, 4Runner. Bronco 2d, Wrangler Sport, FJ. I wish they would have done that instead of bringing the Venza back.

I am not a fan of the new Bronco. If they had kept up with the body style over the years, maybe...
