Are you even allowed to have a gun in Canada? Or do they just allow 1 bullet to be carried in your pocket. Those are a lot of iffy reasons not to carry a gun.

Yeah, a long gun if you have a licence for it and its hunting season. There’s absolutely no reason for a gun in Canada unless you’re a legitimate hunter, shoot skeet, or you are one of Canada’s biathlon athletes. Of course we have serial killers, mass shooters, criminals and police just like everywhere else, but you have a better chance of being killed by lightening than being confronted by any of them where having a gun in your hands would make a difference.

Ok, I’m partially messing with you, but carrying a gun in Canada is complicated and this forum isn’t for that purpose, so let’s just let it pass. Let’s just say the gun culture in Canada and the USA is totally different. I personally think it stems from the Cypress Hills Massacre in 1873, but there’s a lot to Google about Canadian gun laws if you’re interested. Life’s a journey, enjoy!
Btw, gun transgressions in Canada are commonly criminal offences, and can result in federal offences, fines and prison.

Ok one last thought. We have a lot of people in America that do not want us to be armed, they say, the Police will protect you. Those same people now want to Defund the Police.

It’s unfortunate that discourse regarding these matters are so truculent. As I have no experience in the matter, I appreciate the information you’ve given me and I absolutely can’t wait to learn more!! Cheers!!

Bringing things back the actual forum topic as I’m a little more educated in the Cypress Hill Massacre and the Assiniboine.

A less facetious answer to my previous post.

I always carry a tire inflator, and a generic safety box of goodies; suture kit, charcoal, sulfur tabs. Road flares and water cleaning tablets as well. It should be a general consensus that the things I carry work for me. Hopefully this list will provide you with the basics needed to construct your own personal needs kit!

No Adrenochrome? And why does it have to be Florida Snow? I believe Jung smuggled on both sides of the continent brah. Oh I guess Depp was in both of those Movies. Hmmmm curious.
And now back to our regularly scheduled topic: Usually multiple weapons, but I'm not telling you freaks what and where they are.
I have a recovery bag, tool box and Hi lift that get transferred from the 4th gen to the 5th gen depending on what kind of trip is at hand. ARB CKMA 12 in both. The obligatory extra CV axle, alternator, serpentine belt for any serious offroad trip or anything out of state. Colby valve stem replacements. 5th gen has a small solar panel on the rack connected to an MPPT controller in the rear cargo to keep the house battery topped off, and the Fridge lives in there as well. NOCO Jump Booster in both trucks as well as cables. Torque pro dongles in both because if you switch one to the other the 4th gen doesn't like it when you mess with CAN protocols and they are different. Each one has it's own tablet as well. Dual XGPS gets transferred, but I will buy another one if I ever go back to work. Neither one of these trucks have been much farther than the grocery store or the Range since March. SMDH.

When offroading I believe that food, water, and extra clothing are #1. I'm always ready to spend the night if I have to. Obviously tools, and tire repair and tow ropes are very important. But I would say duct tape and a strong bailing wire have gotten me out of the most jams.

Yea Food and water is paramount, so I usually take the 5th gen with Fridge in tow for the long hauls. I save a crap load of money packing that Fridge up.

Some people here say they carry extra axles, extra battery, extra alternator, etc... That would be great if you were planning an off-road trip to the tip of south America.

Or you had a seriously old un-reliable rig. I have been to some crazy places, but never got close to needing that stuff. I also don't beat my rigs.

I have a cargo box in the hatch with the following:

    First aid kit
    Jumper cables
    Flares
    Tow strap
Duct tape, zip ties and bungie cords
    Tire plug kit
    Spare headlight bulbs
    Disposable nitrile gloves
    Quart of 0W-20
    Vinyl seat cover
    Fire starter
    A survival handbook
Rain poncho and change of clothes inc. ski cap and winter gloves
Some contractor and ziplock plastic bags
Prob other stuff I don't remember...

    Up front I have:

    Leatherman
    LED flashlight
    Phone charger
    COVID masks
    More disposable nitrile gloves
    Alcohol wipes

Things I'd consider adding to the above:

A space blanket and/or emergency sleeping bag
    Decent but small air compressor

    Anyone got other suggestions?

You can break a CV axle in the middle of a Florida swamp. Seen it happen. Stumps and roots underwater can be devastating. Although I do try to avoid high water, with all the electronics in these truck now days.

I don't know what water is. Living in the desert southwest I have never experienced mud or water. I think it rained once a few months ago, but it dried up before it hit the ground. 7% humidity and 115 degrees +

Lol, Actually it rained the first 4 days I was in AZ Christmas week, and most of the trails were slightly muddy, but nothing like here in the Mosquito belt. I did avoid the more technical trails out there because of being a lone vehicle, but there are relatively easy trails out there that can still be stressful on CVs if your not careful. But most times I avoid them unless with a group and prepared to break stuff. With the right line and a slow deliberate climb, a R Locker and Atrac will get you through most obstacles with out stressing the drive train too much, but I got into the habit of bringing a spare CV just to be safe.

I did many of the difficult trails in Moab in my FJ cruiser. It handled them all with ease and comfort.

Mask and latex gloves for covid.

Ziplock bags, plastic grocery bags, and toilet paper in case I'm out in wilderness and have to go to bathroom.

Two spare towels in case I get wet or dirty wherever I'm at.

I’ve thought about packing a set of those disposable coveralls for the day I get a flat tire on a gravel road in the pouring rain and I have to drag the spare out from underneath the vehicle, but I haven’t done it yet. I just know I’ll never get a flat tire on a nice day when I’m wearing old clothes when it’s located under the vehicle.
