So after I painstakingly found and replaced all my OEM chrome bumpers and repainted and rehabbed the OEM roof rack after her unfortunate rebuild ....I am now looking at roof baskets and offroad bumpers. :spending:

I am wondering if they make a roof basket rack that runs the full length of the cab, to include the moonroof, but without having to do any drilling?:notsure:

Also anyone know if there is a support group, I may need help. :smashpc:

I'm afraid this IS the support group, but all you'll find here are a bunch of enablers.

Spent the evening watching Overland videos. Bad Bad decision. :frustrated:
Have decided I wish to travel the Denali Highway at some point.

    Now looking at rock sliders.
Who do we like for the Gen 2's?
    Then I may look at
    suspension.
Again who do we like for Gen 2's?
I think we may have to make bumpers in order for me to have what I want. Not seeing anything I like thats available for the Gen 2. I want steel front and back but with steel tubing to wrap around to each side to protect the corners. :help:

That highway is one of my goals also, I am trying to figure out how to get my weapons across Canada, camping in the Alaskan wilderness without protection does not appeal to me in the least. They have some rather large carnivores and it takes a certain type of persuasion to convince them there is nothing to eat in my camp. Not to mention two legged worries. :)

Yeah the Alaska trip would have to definitely wait until the world gets back to normal. Canada isn't letting anyone from the US enter their border.

Ok I am now at the shop. Plan on putting her up on the lift so we can make a plan for a custom skid plate or rock slider bottom to protect my downpipe to the headers we put on her. It sticks out just a bit more than I like. Thought about it last night while I was attempting to sleep.

I know this is not a Toyota but you get the idea. Bonus points to anyone who knows what this is. Came from the factory like this.

I have Rocky Road Outfitters bolt on sliders. I don’t rock climb but I have banged them a few times traveling through desert washes. It has saved the soft parts from damage. I got the extended sliders and I can stand on them to reach the roof.

Welcome to the off-road rabbit hole!!

Here is a Picture of the BudBuilt skid plates and crossmember. It looks like there may be enough room for your crossover pipe.

Nice, that looks good. Will measure the distance minenis fron the transfer case and maybe you can see if it would fit?

I have about 6 inches between the crossover and the front sway bar.

I would suspect that they think of cowboys when they see a Texas plate, and everybody know cowboys are always armed.

The amazing part is Alaska is, by percentage, the heaviest armed state in the US.
I think the way to do it is to pay a transfer fee to my FFL dealer and the shipping costs, send my weapons to a FFL dealer in Alaska. Then pick them up for the trip then reverse the process to get them home. That or a ferry ride from Seattle to Alaska, not sure the best option yet. Still doing my research.

I lived in Alaska for almost 20 years and moved outside in the mid 90’s. Back in the day you could carry a rifle or shotgun to Alaska through Canada, but not a hand gun. You just had to declare it.
I did a quick Google search and it looks like the laws are the same today.

Ok thanks. We have a skid plate from a rally car that we may cut up and try to use.

Thanks, I will have to investigate that, I prefer a hand gun but at the very least a rifle would work. I have plenty of options there. I appreciate the information.

Yes the rear end has a Spartan in it. It takes some time to get in tune with the added backlash on the pavement. But the off road traction is as good as an air-locker. The Spartan is very easy to install as long as you take care to keep everything very clean when you remove and replace the third member.

Got mine set up for overlanding ..... removed the original roof-rack crossbars and fabbed my own to support the RTT. Works great!
