Back in March, I ordered a set of Eibach front struts and rear shocks from a place called Shockwarehouse.com. I subsequently found out they only had the rear shocks, so I cancelled the front struts and ordered those from Wheeler's.

It took a while, but it all eventually showed up on my front porch, and I installed it all near the end of March, first of April. All is well.

I got home from work yesterday, lo and behold, there's an Eibach box on the front porch. Two more rear shocks...what do I do with those? I don't know whether to contact Shockwarehouse or Eibach, or who...

But seriously, it doesn't have a return label or specify where it came from?

Am I obligated to return or pay for merchandise I never ordered?
    A. No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.

    Q. Must I notify the seller if I keep unordered merchandise without paying for it?
    A. Although you have no legal obligation to notify the seller, you may write the seller and offer to return the merchandise, provided the seller pays for shipping and handling.

This is from the federal trade commissions website.

The right thing to do is make the call to shock warehouse, tell them, see what they want to do. They'll either send you a return label or they'll tell you to keep them. They aren't yours. I mean, legally I guess they are, but that don't make it right.

If there's no vendor info on the box then it was probably drop shipped to you from Eibach by shock warehouse.

Keep an eye on your credit card, it may show up yet. In the meantime, check the return address on the package and contact the sender to make sure you still don’t get charged for the shipment. Dig out your cancelled order, and confirmation # and get ready to use it.
Shipping screw ups rarely end well. Bottom line - there are no free goods. Good luck.

I second this. I ordered some servers for work. They sent them. A week later they sent another set. I called them and they didn't see the inventory for the second and argued that they didn't send me two.

I knew this wouldn't end well so I set those off to the side, unopened. 6 months later they said they found they accidentally shipped us $66,000 worth of servers. I told them I was just waiting on the call.

2 days later they had a hot shot pick them up and off they went.

Took them 6 months but they finally figured it out!

Checked the credit card my orders were placed using, no charge for the amount these shocks usually cost, around the time they shipped, 6/18/20. About the cancelled order, that was for the front struts, and I got the refund for those, and ordered from Wheelers.

The shipping label says from Jim Flaherty, Eibach Springs, 264 Mariah Cir, Corona, CA 92879. It also says Bill 3rd Party, so it's most likely a Shockwarehouse goof. I'll call Eibach tomorrow.

I had no intention of keeping them, I already received and installed the ones I ordered. I took a photo of the shipping label, and will send that to Eibach to see what they want me to do with the shocks.

If you talk to them and they end up letting you keep the shocks, let me know. I'm happy to work something out with you.

Eibach shipped on behalf of the vendor, if it turns into a "where is our product, here is a CC bill " situation, the vendor is who you'd be dealing with. You need to communicate with them.

Yeah, and once Eibach bills the vendor, the chickens will be looking for their roost. But hey, if they give them to you, I’d keep them. 4 Runners last a long time and having an extra set of shocks on hand wouldn’t be a waste.

That might not be a bad idea. These shocks have a million mile warranty, but I don't know what's needed to honor that. You could put 100k miles on your first set and feel like you're due for new ones. We just don't have much data on the longevity of these shocks yet.

On the other hand, if you're letting those sit in the garage for 100k, I don't know if the seals will still be good after sitting that long.

    To all:

I spoke with Eibach today, and they are sending me a return label for the shocks. I will let them deal with Shockwarehouse.com if indeed they were sent on their behalf.

I have no open orders with Shockwarehouse, so if they screwed up and had Eibach send out another set of shocks, they can work it out with Eibach.

There was some confusion during the whole order process back in March, "in stock, oh wait, not in stock, needs to ship from Eibach, wait a minute, I think we might have some at our other warehouse" kinda thing. IIRC, the original order of rear shocks did end up coming from Eibach directly, so...all I cared about was getting my order at the end of March, installing them, and going on my way.

The shock ball is in Eibach's court now.

Sorry @nimby, I got nothin' left to send you...:(

No charges showing up on the cc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not looking for anything for helping to fix someone else's screwup...maybe if I order anything else from Eibach in the future, I can request a break then. For now, just paying it forward.
