1990 tranny/clutch prob

Have a 1990 4wd manual v6 with clutch transmission prob. Haa about 300,000/milea and a rebuilt engine about 40,000 miles ago. At the same time a new clutch was installed. First symtom was a lot of play on the clutch goi ng into first. Then became very difficult to get into gear, started popping out of gear then wouldn't start without the no clutch button. We've removed the transmission and gear box. Two springs on the flywheel are broken and the clutch plate is bowed. And a ball bearing fell out from somewhere when we removed the transmission. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on? Thanks
