    Dobinsons 2.5" lift. Cooper AT3 XLT 295/70R17.
I'm looking to do about a 2.5~3" lift. I'd like to keep the rake rather than level it. Coming from the Tacoma, I know how I want to get the front done.

Many of the options I'm seeing for the rear are only about 1~1.5" of lift. If I lift above 2", will I need to change other suspension components besides the springs and shocks? I don't plan adding any significant weight in the future.

I'm considering Icon (What I had on the Tacoma) or maybe Fox or King.

For Icon, I see a 2” spring and a 3" overland spring, which might not be good with no added weight. Maybe I should go for the 2" with a 1/2" spacer?

What springs do Fox or King shocks come with so I can get rear matching springs? I think I saw one came with Eibach, but I could only find a 1” rear Eibach spring.

    Any help appreciated :D

There’s approx a 2” rake built in and you take it from there, depending on whether you want level or not. A little bit of rake (under 1”) to account for loads works for me, but the tricky part is avoiding a stiff, heavy duty suspension if the vehicle is a DD and an empty mall crawler 90% of the time. I’m trying to decide this same question at the moment. I think we established in another thread that those 1” Eibach rear springs are basically the same spring rate as stock, just 1” longer.

Hey Snickel Fritz - that sounds like a good solution for guys like me who can’t decide how much lift they will need in all scenarios! I’m going to check them out. Initially my reaction is to avoid anything adjustable that exists underbody in my hostile climate of snow, salt, sand, and ice because it all turns to a seized mass of rust unless it’s plastic or stainless but these might be worth the effort to keep the adjusters working.

I'll have to remember next time I go out, I'll measure the rake. I just hate the look of the ass end being lower than the front when unloaded.

The Icons I had were adjustable. They had aluminum bodies so they didn't rust like crazy. But honestly once I got them adjusted, I never needed to readjust them.

Yeah, keep us in the loop, Snickel Fritz. it would be cool to hear that they actually exist! I asked a couple of Eibach dealers here in Canada and they said they could be here at the end of the month. Maybe, haha. I guess I can wait until then to see if they actually have any left over for Canada after you guys are done buying them, haha.
Btw, what spring rate did you order?

Medium sounds like a good choice, that’s .5” - 2.5” of lift with a 250lb spring. Since stock is around 200, a little extra capacity would be good.

Dobinson has a lot of different setups for the rear springs; KDSS or non KDSS. I had MetalTech before I switched to Dobinson with KDSS specific springs. Best choice I did with my Kings.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I don't have KDSS. Did you have to change anything else in the rear such as control arms or links?

I’d give it 1” in the rear. But the nice thing about the adjustable Eibach springs is that you can fine tune them. Sometimes level looks a little front high, and you might want to preserve a small amount of rake to accommodate loads.

I did the Icon rear lift coils-52700 paired with Fox shocks and it rides great. It yielded 2” of lift, have loaded it up with about 350+lbs of gear and it didn’t sag at all and rides great.

With little to no weight being added to the rear, a 1" Eibach spring in the rear is what we would recommend as well. We use those a lot on our installs here at the shop. Ironically we are about to put our Stage 2-Fox kit on a 2020 TRD OR 4Runner. With our custom valving, we can make these Fox shocks ride amazing.
