I'm hoping someone can help me confirm the part number for the rear bearings. Every write up and YouTube video that I've found calls out part number 90363-40020-77 but when I go to order on several websites (Amazon and a few Toyota online sites) they say this part will not fit and recommend part number 90363-40068. I ordered a pair of the recommended bearings and just received them today. They have a raised lip on the inner cylinder of the bearing that sticks up about ¼". Any input is appreciated.

CALL YOUR DEALER! They will take your VIN and will give you the correct part number! I do this all the time, they are happy to give you the number...and sell the part to you.

I took negusm's advice and called my local Toyota dealership to find that part # 90363-40068 is for 2000 to 2002 4runners only. So not all 3rd Gens are created equal. Hope this helps anyone else planning to replace their rear seals and bearings.

Also use PARTSOUQ.COM WITH YOUR VIN!

So, from what I can gather, on-line TOYOTA parts dealers use 2 databases. One seems to be on-line only and "iffy" and one seems to be in-house and vin searchable and 100% perfectly correct.

PARTSOUQ seems to always be correct and in-line with what the in-house database the TOYOTA dealer has.

For example...I go to PARTSOUQ and it says one part number. I put that into the on-line Toyota parts dealer and the site says it doesn't fit my car. I supply the Toyota dealer my VIN and order the part the web site says is correct. The dealer checks my VIN and emails me back saying their site is wrong and the part is the part number PARTSOUQ originally told me.

So for me, I gather part numbers from PARTSOUQ using my VIN (they also have a lot of pictures of parts) and plug them into the discount on-line Toyota dealer site ( I use McGeorge). Even if the site says it won't fit, I order it anyways and always put my VIN in the checkout. I don't get any more emails from the TOYOTA parts dealer correcting my orders.
