    Hey all,

about to finally switch over to a 4runner! Super pumped. Settled on a SR5. I really want a scooped hood but could care less for the other features an OR comes with and the additional price difference. I’ve seen many bare metal hoods on eBay for $385 but I want to see if anybody has bought a non-OEM scooped hood and if it’s a perfect fit? I’ll be picking up the 4runner on Friday morning. Can’t wait to start building! Already got a lift and tires and wheels in the cart ready to go:bananadance:

There is a running thread of scoop, nonscoop trying to trade in this forum.... some love them, others can't stand them

I wouldn’t look to trade, I’m just going to buy. There’s plenty on eBay just don’t know how the fitment will be even though it’s advertised as a perfect fit.
I come from tacomaworld so this is pretty much the 4runner version of that.

Best option is to troll online junkyards and find one with rear end and/or side impact damage local to you. That way you know it fits and maybe even get one color matched. The trade thread here is 99% people looking for scooped hoods.

why buy replica? Just get Oem from stealer for ~ $350. That’s where I got mine

Here’s my hood before my TRD conversion. Fitment was spot on sine it’s Oem

Didn’t think of that, I figured not too many people get theirs wrecked lol

For the hood and parts my dealer wants about $700, and then extra $200 to paint it so I’m at $1000 through the dealer so I want to try and avoid that if I can. Not sure if different dealers sell the same parts at different prices though.

IMO you have a load of cash .. just get the dealership to do it ............... no problem ..
dealership will get a great deal...
you should also change the wheels and tires and do the lift .. it will look great..

Yep try car-part.com to find a nationwide list of junked Trail/OR trucks, and narrow it down by color. That way you don't worry about paint matching, fitment, etc. Or find someone willing to trade. I traded my scooped hood and got some bucks in the process. Couldn't stand the glare coming off of it, nor the idea of a fake scoop to begin with.

Man that’s looking good! And you have a limited? I can’t wait to get all my parts installed!

Exactly the plan. My Tacoma has the scoop and as much as I loved it, on sunny bright days when the sun hit it just right I hated it. So just want to see if the 4Runners scoop is as bad.

Coming from a 17 inferno red Tacoma! I love the white in the 4runners, if only they still made the inferno red in them because there’s only one in my town and every time I see it I just

    Currently stock; MODS coming soon.
Yeah, its two different prices. Dealers Parts online prices are priced less versus calling or going to the parts counter. I've bought many 4R, Taco, TRD and misc parts cheaper than listed prices.

We all know that that SR5 is WAYYYY over priced if it’s that far off an OR.

Hey MTB, any updates on this? Did you get your scooped hood in? I'm looking to replace my non-scooped hood too. What was the final cost? Thanks!

The ORP were all $43K and UP!
