Upgraded suspension and 2” lift. My sons ride and we are starting to do some upgrades/mods ourselves.
My son's '98 has the wood overlay on the radio bezel, and vents. The lacquer is completely gone and it's just bare wood. I would like to remove it and paint or Plastidip(?) the plastic underneath. Has anyone done this? If I heat the wood, will it come off? I'm thinking if I get it off I will need to sand the plastic. We just want it to be black....could paint, but wondering if Plastidip might cover any blemished better?
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are staying healthy and sane!!!
Thanks in advance for any input!!!

I did this to mine. Take off alllll the trims with wood, take off any switches etc so they don’t get burned in the process. Use a heat gun to SLOWLY pry the wood off so you don’t snap the trim in half. You’re going to be left with ALOT of adhesive residue to get that off I just used rubbing alcohol and elbow grease. The trim might end up drying out and getting a gray/white look to it. You can either, clean it all up with some plastix to revive the black color of the trim only if it came out good when removing everything or if it came out looking a little janky you could sand it all down and repaint the trims

Very nice! That's exactly what we are looking at. I think we'll give it a shot....if it fails, we'll find some new. It would have to fail pretty bad to look worse than the wood does now! Thanks for sharing the information and pics!!

No problem at all, just make sure to remove the door handles and window switches when removing the wood. I didn’t and ended up burning a hole in the cloth trim around the door. I was lucky enough to find a replacement at a junk yard tho.
